CCHS beats Central Lafourche in 5 games

Central Catholic defeated Central Lafourche Monday on the road in five games, winning the second, third and fifth games.
The Lady Eagles won 3-2 (26-28, 25-18, 25-22, 15-25, 15-12).
Quincee Wiggins led the Lady Eagles with 12 kills. Brittany Longman had 11 kills, and Hallie Autin had 10 kills.
Kaitlyn Gros led Central Catholic with 32 assists, and she also led the team in digs at 22. Longman had 19 digs and Wiggins added 14 digs.
Autin led the Lady Eagles with five blocks while Rebecca David had two blocks.
This past weekend, Central Catholic finished 2-2 at Archbishop Hannan’s tournament this past weekend, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas and Ponchatoula and falling to Chalmette and Riverside.
Against St. Thomas Aquinas, Central Catholic won 2-0 (25-12, 25-14).
Hallie Autin and Brittany Longman each had six kills, while Kaitlyn Gros recorded 14 assists.
Central Catholic fell to Chalmette 2-1 (25-17, 12-25, 13-15).

Central Catholic defeated Ponchatoula 2-0 (25-11, 25-18).
Gros led Central Catholic with five kills and eight assists, while Autin had four kills.
Against Riverside, Central Catholic fell 2-0 (16-25, 22-25).
Gros led the Lady Eagles with five kills and four assists, while Longman had three kills.
Central Catholic will return to action Wednesday when it travels to face South Lafourche.

Morgan City finishes 2-2 at Hannan’s tournament
Morgan City High School also finished 2-2 at Archbishop Hannan’s tournament this weekend, defeating St. Martin’s Episcopal and Salmen and falling to OLA and Archbishop Hannan.
Against St. Martin, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-13, 25-16).
Morgan City had 14 aces, led by four from Dwanna LeBeau. LeBeau also had two kills and three digs.
Other top contributors for Morgan City included Kennedy Hebert, two aces, two kills, one block and seven digs; Jaiveianna Jones, six kills, one block and two digs; Cecily Feliciano, three aces, six assists and five digs; Paige Loftin, three aces, three kills and three digs; and Brandi Ingram, seven digs.
Against OLA, Morgan City fell 19-25, 17-25.
Jones led Morgan City with six kills, two blocks and six digs.
Other top contributors included Feliciano, one ace, one kill, three assists and one dig; Ingram, nine digs; Karley Guidry, one block, two assists and two digs; and Loftin, one ace, two kills and two digs.
Against Archbishop Hannan, Morgan City lost 2-0 (13-25, 8-25).
Jones had one kill, one block and one dig, while Feliciano had one kill, one assist and two digs.
Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, one assist and three digs, and Allie Vincent, three digs.
Against Salmen, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-13, 25-21)
The Lady Tigers recorded nine aces.
Jones had two aces, six kills and seven digs to lead Morgan City, while Hebert added five kills and six digs.

Morgan City return to action today when it hosts Lutcher High School. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow.

Berwick High School finishes 1-3 at “Think Pink” tournament
Berwick High School finished 1-3 at Dunham’s “Think Pink” tournament, defeating Runnels and falling to Mandeville, Fontainebleau and McGehee.
Against Runnels, Berwick won 2-0 (25-16, 25-12).
Ashton Morales led Berwick with two aces, seven kills, one block, six assists and six digs.
Other top contributors included Abigail Askew, six kills and one block; Mary Jordan Melancon, one ace, five assists and three digs; and Hannah Carpenter, one ace, one kill and 11 digs.
Against Mandeville, Berwick fell 2-0 (17-25, 12-25).
Morales led Berwick with five kills, one block, four assists and eight digs.
Other top contributors included Melancon, one kill, four assists and four digs; Askew, one ace, three kills and one dig; Carpenter, 12 digs; Rennen DeLatte, six digs; and Roslyn Gros, five digs.
Against Fontainebleau, Berwick fell 2-0 (16-25, 12-25).

Against McGehee, Berwick fell 2-0 (15-25, 10-25). McGehee, ranked No. 1 in the latest unofficial Division IV power rankings released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association a week ago, entered this weekend’s tournament 23-0, according to its schedule on the LHSAA website. The squad dropped two matches at the tournament.
In Berwick’s match against the New Orleans school, Morales had one ace, two kills, one assist and three digs, while Sydney Aucoin had one ace, three kills and one dig.
Other top contributors for the Lady Panthers were Carpenter, one kill and six digs; Askew, one kill, one block and two digs; and Melancon, three assists and two digs.
Berwick will return to action when it travels to face Patterson today.
