CCHS defeats Covenant Christian

Central Catholic topped Covenant Christian 3-0 (25-5, 25-13, 25-8) in District 6-V volleyball action at home Thursday.
Hallie Autin led the Lady Eagles with 13 kills and three aces, while Quincee Wiggins had nine kills.
Other top contributors included Katie Hoffpauir, 15 assists; Taylor Picou, 11 assists; Yani Johnson, six kills; Brooke Lipari, eight digs; and Emma Aucoin, four aces.
Central Catholic (16-20 overall, 3-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to play West St. John in District 6-V action.
Berwick defeats
Franklin
Berwick High School swept Franklin High School 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-9) in District 8-III play in Franklin Thursday.
As a team, Berwick had nine aces and four blocks.
Ashton Morales led the squad with four aces, seven kills, one block, seven assists and eight digs.
Other top contributors included Sydney Aucoin, one ace, 10 kills, three blocks and three digs; Mary Jordan Melancon, one kill, nine assists and four digs; Madalyn Gros, six kills and one dig; and Brittney Roberie, two aces and four digs.
In junior varsity action, Berwick won 2-0 (25-15, 25-6).
The Lady Panthers recorded 25 aces and three blocks as a team.
Hannah Henry led the squad with three aces, four kills, five assists and five digs, while Abbie Dugas had eight aces, three assists and seven digs.
Other top contributors included Sarah Broussard, one kill, two blocks and two digs; and Megan Lipari, three aces and one dig.
Berwick (13-16, 4-3) will return to action Monday when it hosts E.D. White in district play.
Morgan City falls
to Vandebilt Catholic
Morgan City High School fell 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 11-25, 19-25) to Vandebilt Catholic in District 8-III action in Houma Thursday.
The Lady Tigers had 35 kills and eight blocks in the loss.
Kennedy Hebert led Morgan City with two aces, 10 kills, eight digs and two blocks, while Alex Thompson had five blocks, nine kills and three digs.
Other top contributors included Allie Vincent, four digs, three aces and 12 assists; Abby Reynaud, 17 assists, six digs and an ace; Dwanna LeBeau, seven kills and eight digs; Cecily Feliciano, 18 digs and three kills; Sh’Diamond Holly, six kills, one dig and one block; and Katelyn Gautreaux, 11 digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-23, 25-20).
Holly had seven kills, one block and three digs, while Faith Crappell had two aces, five kills and seven digs.
Other top contributors included McKenzi Smith, 15 digs; Reynaud, two kills, eight assists and four digs; Vincent, one ace, five assists and two digs; Hannah Gros, one ace, one kill and six digs; Hailey Lewis, one ace, two blocks and three digs; and Kaitlyn Gros, six digs.
Morgan City won the freshman contest 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 15-12).
Morgan City had eight aces and three blocks in the win.
Nia Lightfoot and Karmen Peterson led the Lady Tigers. Lightfoot had one ace, five kills, two blocks and nine digs, while Peterson had three aces, five kills, one block and four digs.
Other top contributors included Jolee Nini, one ace, one kill, 10 assists and three digs; Hallie Blanchard, one ace, one assist and 11 digs; and Brysa Zumodia, five digs.
Morgan City (9-18, 1-5) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Franklin in district play.
