CCHS falls to White Castle, 64-62

White Castle edged Central Catholic, 64-62, in high school boys’ basketball action Thursday in Morgan City.
Jalen Johnson and Elijah Swan each had 21 points for Central Catholic.
Central Catholic (9-13) will return to action today when it travels to face Hanson Memorial in District 7-1A action. Boys varsity action is set for an approximately 6:30 p.m. start following the girls varsity contest.
Patterson clinches share of district title
The Patterson Lumberjacks clinched no worse than a share of the District 8-3A title as they eased by the Erath Bobcats, 59-39, in District 8-3A boys’ high school boys basketball action in Erath Thursday.
The Lumberjacks now have at least a two-game lead on the rest of the district with two district games remaining for Patterson.
In Thursday’s win, Patterson outscored Erath in every quarter, except the third. Patterson led 23-8 after a quarter, 36-15 at the half and 49-31 after three quarters.
Taylan Grogan led Patterson with 20 points, while Nehemiah Augustus also reached double figures with 10 points. Other scorers included Jordan Butler, eight; D.J. Jones, six; Tyric Garrett and Khyri Harris, four points apiece; Kenneth Washington, three; and Dajon Richard and Kobe Gray, two points apiece.
Patterson (19-4, 10-0) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face North Vermilion in District 8-3A action. The varsity-only contest will begin at 6 p.m.
