CCHS, Patterson win baseball games

Central Catholic’s Greg Leger tossed a two-hitter and the Eagles defeated Vermilion Catholic 5-2 in District 7-1A action Monday in Amelia.
In six innings of work, Leger surrendered two earned runs on two hits with five walks and fanned seven.
He also finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
While Vermilion Catholic took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Central Catholic responded with single runs in the bottom of the second and third innings for a 2-1 advantage.
Vermilion Catholic tied the game at 2 in the top of the sixth before Central Catholic countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame for the final margin.
Other top offensive contributors for Central Catholic included Thomas Garber, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; T.J. Ruffin, 1-for-3, two RBIs and a run; Samuel Guarisco, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-4, a double; and Matthew Barbier, an RBI.
Central Catholic left seven runners on base in the win.
The Eagles (17-4 overall, 7-1 in district) will return to action today when it travels to face Lafayette Christian in District 7-1A action.
Patterson defeats Northside Christian
The Patterson Lumberjacks defeated Northside Christian 8-4 on the road Monday.
Patterson rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit with a run in the third and fourth innings and two more in the top of the fifth for a 4-3 advantage.
While Northside Christian tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, Patterson responded with four runs in the top of the sixth inning for the final margin.
Patterson had 11 hits, led by Brad Beaubouef’s 3-for-4 performance with a double, an RBI and a run.
Other top offensive contributors included Jake Lagrange, 2-for-4, two RBIs, a stolen base and a run; Brennen Gouaux, 1-for-1, a triple, an RBI and a run; Bryce Beaubouef, 1-for-3, three RBIs and two runs; and Tyrik Singleton, 1-for-3, a double.
On the mound, Gouaux earned the win. In six innings, he surrendered four runs — two earned — on six hits with seven strikeouts.
In one inning of relief, Lagrange surrendered two walks and fanned one.
Both teams left eight runners on base.
Patterson (13-11) will return to action today when it travels to face Franklin. The District 9-3A contest’s start time has been pushed back to 5:30 p.m.
