Centerville 9-4 on the season after loss on the road

MORGAN CITY _ Centerville falls on the road to drop to 9-4 overall and 1-1 in 7-1A.
Central Catholic improves to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in 7-1A.
Centerville will host Hanson on Tuesday. Central Catholic will travel to Highland Baptist on Tuesday.
Centerville moved to a 22-18 lead at the end of one quarter before Central Catholic went on a 14-10 run to slice the Bulldogs’ advantage to 32-30 at the half. Centerville and Central Catholic played to a 44-44 tie in the third quarter before the Eagles went on a 17-10 run, pulling out the hard-fought 61-54 District 7-1A win.
Centerville’s Jaylon Williams tossed in 21 points on 7 3’s while Lance Howard bagged 14 points on 4-2’s, 1-3 and 3 of 5 free throws. Jaqualon Bourgeois struck for 10 points on two treys, one deuce and 2 of 2 free throws. Jackson Hebert finished with six points while Deandre Kinchen connected on one field goals along with 1 of 2 free throws for 3 points. On the night, Centerville made good on 6 of 9 free throws while committing 20 fouls.
Samarick Paul fired in 23 points on 4-2’s, 4-3’s and 3 of 5 free throws to help propel Central Catholic.
Rounding out the scoring for CCHS were: Brocks Thomas, 4-2’s, 1-3 for 11 points; Elijah Juan, 4-2’s, 3 of 6 FT for 11 points; Jalen Johnson, 2-2’s, 5 of 8 FT, 9 points; Davidyionne Bias, 1-2, 2 of 7 FT, 4 points and Blake Byrne, 1-2, 1 of 2 FT, 3 points.
Central Catholic connected on 14 of 28 FT and 16 fouls on the night.
