Centerville Bulldogs beat Hanson Tigers
CENTERVILLE _ Centerville High School improved to 2-1 in District 7-1A Tuesday after topping the Hanson Memorial Tigers 71-42 here at the CHS Gymnasium.
Centerville (10-4, 2-1) grabbed the upper hand early with a 16-13 advantage in the opening frame. The Bulldogs outpointed the Tigers by a 20-8 margin in the second quarter for a 36-21 lead at intermission. CHS went on a 25-15 run in the third quarter for a 61-36 cushion before posting the 71-42 league win.
Josh Luke led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points while Robert camors and Kyler Clements poured in eight points apiece.
Other top scorers for the Tigers were: Skyler Fitch, 5; Brian Sonnier, 4 and Abdiel Macias, 2.
On the night, the Tigers were 10 of 13 from the charity stripe while committing 12 fouls. Hanson also connected on a pair of 3-point baskets with Luke and Fitch draining one each.
Leading scorers for the CHS Bulldogs were: Lance Howard, 19; Jaqualon Bourgeois, 19; Jaylon Williams, 19; Jackson Hebert, 6; Marquis Strawder, 6 and Deandre Kinchen, 2.
Centerville made good on 8 of 13 free throws while committing 12 fouls.
Bouregeois led the Bulldogs in 3-point basekts with five following by Williams Williams (4), Howard (3), Hebert (2) and Strawder (1).
Centerville improved to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in 7-1A. Hanson slipped to 2-13 and 0-3 in 7-1A.
Centerville will travel to AES on Friday.
