Centerville Bulldogs win Region 3-B Track Meet

BELL CITY _ The Centerville Bulldogs won the 2014 Region 3-B Track Meet held here Wednesday at the Bell City High School Track.
Centerville won the region 3-B Track and Field Meet with 106 points. Midland was second with 93 points, followed by Bell City (91), Lacassine (81), Hosanna Christian (44), Hathaway (44), Patrick Taylor Academy (37), Episcopal of Acadiana (36), Maurepas (23) and Holden (3).
In the girls meet, Episcopal School of Acadiana won the Girls Region 3-B Track Meet with 115 points. Bell City was second with 99, followed by Midland (74), Lacassine (62), Patrick Taylor Academy (56), Holden (38), Centerville (35), Maurepas (28), Hathaway (25) and Hosanna Christian (18).
The Centerville Bulldogs earned five victories on the way to winning the regional crown. Jumanji Washington won the 200 meter dash (23.05), the 4x100 relay team of Zacchaeus Jackson, Courtland Pogue, Lamonta Thomas and Jumanji Washington won in 45.14 and the 4x200 team of Thomas, Pogue, Marvin Strawder and Washington won in 1:33.43. Tyler Landry also won the discus with a heave of 106-11. Courtland Pogue bested the field in the 100 in the winning time of 11.14. Other top finishers for the Centerville Bulldogs were: 4x400 (Vincent Anderson, Zacchaeus Jackson, Jumanji Washington, Courtland Pogue), second, 3:49.45 and Marvin Strawder, third, 200, 24.20.
The Centerville Lady Bulldogs’ top finishers were: Hailey McDaniel, third, 200, 29.10; 4x100 (Alyrria Austin, Melissa Batiste, Ny’kentra Kennedy, Roshayla Gunner), third, 55.91. The Centerville Lady Bulldogs won the District 8-B Track Meet earlier in April.
