Central Catholic tops Berwick 7-1

The Central Catholic Lady Eagles defeated the Berwick Lady Panthers Tuesday, 7-1
Central Catholic jumped on top early with four runs in the first inning and two more in the second. The Lady Eagles added a single run in the fifth, while Berwick plated a run in the top of the seventh.
Central Catholic’s Megan Landry earned the win. In seven innings, she surrendered an unearned run on two hits with a walk and fanned nine.
At the plate, Kaitlyn Gros led the Lady Eagles with a 3-for-3 performance with a double, two RBIs, four stolen bases and a run, while Kimberly Russo was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs. Other top contributors included Brittany Longman, 1-for-2, two RBIs and a run; and Bridgette Swan, 1-for-2, an RBI.
No individual stats were available for Berwick.
Central Catholic (15-3) will return to action today when it travels to face Lafayette Christian in a 4 p.m. contest.
Berwick (7-16 overall) will return to action today when it hosts Franklin in a District 9-3A doubleheader set for 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. start times.
