CHS Lady Bulldogs place 2nd in District 8-B Meet

NEW ORLEANS _ Holden’s Lady Rockets nipped Centerville’s Lady Bulldogs by five points to win the 2015 Girls District 8-B Championships here Thursday.
In the final standings, the Holden Lady Rockets amassed 89 points with the Centerville Lady Bulldogs finishing second with 84 points while Patrick Taylor placed third with 70 points.
Three Lady Bulldogs won their events on the day. Olivia Thibodeaux took first place in the discus (93-11). Roshayla Gunner was first in the triple jump (30-11) while Kayla Robinson won the high jump (4-10).
Other top finishers for the Lady Bulldogs were: Olivia Thibodeaux, shot put, 28-9; Alyrria Austin, triple jump, second, 29½; Roshayla Gunner, 100, second, 13;00; Alyrria Austin, 800, second, 2:59.0; 400-meter relay, second, 59:87; Alyrria Austin, 200, second, 29;16; Kenaytra Kennedy, 300 hurdles, third, 1:03.28; Jasmine Gunner, discus, third, 78-7; Kenaytra Kennedy, long jump, third, 10-0; Jamine Gunner, javelin, third, 67-1; 4x400, third, 5:15.0; Roshayla Gunner, 400, fourth, 1:15.0 and Kayla Robinson, javelin, fourth, 58-11½.
In the District 8-B Boys Championship, Patrick Taylor High School notched the title with 99 points. Holden High School placed second with 64 points while Maurepas took third with 49 points and Centerville was fourth with 35 points.
The CHS Bulldogs claimed four victories on the day, including five individual races and one relay. Noah Dupepe was a double winner on the day, capturing first in both the 110 meter hurdles in the time of 19.29 along with the javelin with a throw of 101-6½; Lamonata Thomas won the 100 (11.03) with Isaiah Verret taking first in the 300 (52.96). Centerville also won the 400 meter relay in the time of 45.06.
Other top finishers for CHS were: Isaiah Verret, 110 hurdles, second; Jaqualon Bourgeois, 200, second, 26.03; Dylan Bergeron, 1600, third, 5:38.0 and Ameer Paige, 100, third, 11.87.
The top four finishers qualified for the regional meet which was held today at Midland High School.
