E. D. White sweep District 9-3A titles

The E. D. White boys and girls track teams won the District 9-3A Track and Field titles Thursday at the Albert Perry Track at the J. C. Dry Stadium at the Franklin Senior High School.
The E. D. White Cardinals won the title with 125 points, while Franklin finished as the runnerup with 124 points. E. D. White’s Lady Cardinals tallied 122 points with the Berwick Lady Panthers earning a runnerup finish with 85 points.
The Boys team totals were as follows: 1) E. D. White, 125; 2) Franklin, 124; 3) Berwick, 59; 4) Patterson, 37; 5) Donaldsonville, 21.
The Girls team totals were as follow: 1) E. D. White, 122; 2) Berwick, 85; 3) Franklin, 73; 4) Donaldsonville, 71; 5) Patterson, 22.
In the individual honors, Berwick’s Ashton Morales was named the Girls Outstanding Performer while Franklin’s Sadie Payne garnered the MVP Field honor. Franklin’s Fabian Small and Donaldsonville’s Xanet Carter shared the MVP Track award. Franklin’s Cedric Paul earned the Outstanding Performer award while Franklin’s Damion Williams was named the MVP Track honoree with Floyd Foster of Donaldsonville, Daylon Charlot of Patterson and Jeremy Rounds of E. D. White were the recipients of the MVP Field honors.
Franklin’s Cedric Paul was a double winner, earning first place finishes in both the shot put (56-05.05) and the discus (149-10).
Damion Williams of Franklin bested the field in the 110 meter hurdles (14.65) and the 300 meter hurdles (41.35). Williams also teamed up with Mark Ruffin, Charles Webb and Alvontrae Perro to win both the 4x100 with a 43.82 reading and the 4x200 in the time 1:29.94. Franklin swept the relays as the 4x400 meter foursome of Charles Burrell, Trevions Rouchon, Alvontrae Perro and Jordan Joseph broke the tape in the winning time of 3:32.65.
Other top finishers for the Franklin Senior High School Hornets were: Alvontrae Perro, first, 200, 22.98; Trevions Rouchon, first, 400, 51.46; Mark Ruffin, second, 200, 23.08; Kyran Webb, second, 110, 16.51; Charles Burrell, second, 300 hurdles, 43.09; Brennan Robinson, high jump, 6-02.0; Jordan Joseph, second, long jump, 21-0; Cedric Paul, third, javelin, 149-0; Charles Webb, third, 100, 11.62; Larry Grimm, fourth, 800, 2:17.97; Brennen Robinson, fourth, long jump, 20-07.0 and Mark Ruffin, fourth, 100, 11.63.
Franklin Lady Hornets Fabian Small and Sadie Payne posted double victories on the day.
Small notched victories in both the 100 (12.85) and 200 (26.45). Payne won both the shot put (30-06) and the javelin (95-05).
Other top winners for the Franklin Lady Hornets were: 4x100 (Janjinique James, Wyneisha Jenkins, Damonquie Robinson, Fabian Small), first, 52.53; 4x200 (Tanjinique James, Wyneshia Jenkins, Fabian Small, Damonquie Robinson), second, 1:50.40; Wyneshia Jenkins, third, 400, 1:04.32; 4x400 (Abreanah Burrell, Terrionca Dangerfield, Kaira Butler, Chardonnea Parker), third, 4:59.0; Kaira Butler, third, long jump, 15-05; Wyneshia Jenkins, third, triple jump, 31-09; Tanjinique James, fourth, 200, 29.23; Terrionca Dangerfield, fourth, 100, 18.24; Terrionca Dangerfield, fourth, 300 hurdles, 56.67 and China Fleming, fourth, shot put, 26-08.
The top four finishers in each event will advance to the regional meet next week.
