The Patterson Lumberjacks rallied with two runs in the top of the sixth inning to edge Family Christian, 5-4, on the road Monday.

While Patterson coach Ryan Jensen said the win was an “ugly” one, he said that at this period in the season, wins are big and even more so against teams of Family Christian’s caliber.
“You can see why they have won the last (two) state championships and have the ability to challenge for a (third),” Jensen said of the Class C school. “We left 11 on base, had some base running mistakes, and made some errors that really kept them in the game. We have to increase our focus and be better than what we showed.”
Tyrik Singleton finished 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Lumberjacks, while Brennan Gouaux was 2-for-4 with two runs. Other top contributors included Spencer Landry, 1-for-3, an RBI and a stolen base; and Sirbatian Charles, an RBI and a stolen base.
