FHS notches eight wins in 9-3A meet
BERWICK _ E. D. White girls and boys swept the 2015 District 9-3A Track and Field Championships here Thursday at Berwick’s Geisler Stadium.
Franklin’s boys had eight first place finishes while earning a third place finish overall.
FSHS’ Trevious Rouchon and Kyran Webb won the MVP Track honors while Hakim Ruffin was named the Outstanding Performer with Berwick’s Kenan Jones receiving the MVP Field honor.
The 2015 Boys standing were: 1) E. D. White High School, 120; 2) Berwick High School, 111; 3) Franklin High School, 92; 4) Patterson High School, 27, and Donaldsonville High School, 19.
Ruffin took first place in his specialty 100 (10.86) and the 200 (21.69). Rouchon won the 400 (49.42) while Kyran Webb captured the 110 hurdles (15.68) with Charles Burrell winning the 300 meter hurdles (43.81).
Franklin swept all three relay races. The 4x100 meter relay unit of Charles Webb, Alvontre Perro, Devynn Armsted and Trevious Rouchon won their event with a 42.96 reading. Franklin’s foursome of Charles Webb, Hakin Ruffin, Alvontre Perron and Trevious Rouchon finished first with a 1:26.87 reading. Franklin’s 4x400 meter relay team of Hakim Ruffin, Alvontre Perro, Trevious Rouchon and Charles Webb won their event in the time of 3:26.51.
Other top finishers for the Franklin Hornets were: Alvontre Perro, 100, second, 11.05; Charles Webb, 200, second, 22.54; Kyran Webb, 300, second, 44.10 and Tylan Ireland, javelin, third, 136-03.
In the 2015 Girls District 9-3A Track and Field Championship, the E. D. White Lady Cardinals bested the field after amassing 149 total points.
Berwick’s Lady Panthers finished second with 105 points followed by Donaldsonville’s Lady Tigers (82), Patterson’s Lady Jills (22) and the Franklin Lady Hornets (9).
The top girl individual honors were handed out to: Nicole Arceneaux, Berwick, MVP Field; Annie Alexander, E. D. White, MVP Track and Aston Morales, Berwick, Outstanding Performer.
Franklin’s Terrionca Dangerfield led the Lady Hornets with a third place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (55.37). The Lady Hornets 4x200 meter relay team of Tanjinique James, Terrionca Dangerfield, Nikki Robertson and Brianna Bowie placed fourth with a 1:58.91 reading. Franklin’s Kiara Butler took fifth place in the triple jump with a leap of 27-11.75.
The top four finishers in the District 9-3A meet will qualify for the Region Meet next Wednesday at J. H. Williams Middle School in Abbeville.
