FSHS Hornets turn back WSM Wolfpack in SM West Jamboree

De’John Parker and LaDarrius Davis took turns churning up huge chunks of real estate, leading the Franklin High School Hornets to a 24-7 win over the West St. Mary Wolfpack at Friday’s First Annual St. Mary West Football Jamboree at J. C. Dry Stadium.
Parker rushed for 65 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns on the night. Davis ran 13 times for 47 yards and one score.
Franklin’s Allen Randle also caught a 10-yard TD pass from quarterback David Kinchen as FHS scored four times.
Parker raced untouched on a six-yard score with 7:25 showing in the first half, giving Franklin a 6-0 lead.
A short time later, Randle hauled in a perfectly timed spiral from Kinchen to send the Hornets ahead by a 12-0 margin at the 3:08 mark of the first half.
In the second half, Davis make his presence felt with a 4-yard run at the 8:45 mark to hand Franklin an 18-0 advantage.
Trevon Charatain scored on a 23-yard fumble recovery to help the Wolfpack trail the Hornets by a score of 18-6. WSM Torrance Ballard made good on the P-A-T and the Hornets held an 18-7 lead.
With time running out in the contest, Parker hit paydirt from five yards out, giving the Hornets the 24-7 win.
Parker finished the night with 10 carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Davis added 47 yards on 13 carries and one score. Kinchen also carried 8 times for 10 yards while De’Andre Charles had two totes for 28 yards.
Randle capped the scoring with a 10 yards TD catch.
Kinchen connected on 3 of 6 passes for 28 yards. Randle had two catches for eight yards and one touchdown while Tre’Vions Rouchon made one grab for 20 yards.
Defensively, Jai’Ondrick Lovely and Christopher Jones spearheaded the Hornets attack with several sacks and bone-jarring tackles.
Franklin will travel to Raceland to play Central LaFourche on Friday at 7 p.m. in the season opener.
The WSM Wolfpack will open the season on the road on Thursday versus the Opelousas Tigers at Donald Gardner Stadium at 7 p.m.
