Guarisco earns 2015 All-USA Today Louisiana Football Team honors

Central Catholic standout running back Stefano Guarisco received two more postseason honors recently as he was named a second-team selection in USA TODAY High School Sports’ 2015 American Family Insurance All-USA Louisiana Football team.
Earlier in the week, he was named the Outstanding Offensive Player on the Acadiana Advocate’s All-Metro football team for Classes 3A-1A.
Guarisco finished his senior season with 299 carries for a school-record of 2,728 yards and 39 touchdowns. He finished his career as both Central Catholic’s all-time and single-season rushing leader as well as tops in school history in single-season and career touchdowns.
He also caught 15 passes for 312 yards and five touchdowns. He finished the season with 47 overall touchdowns and 32 two-point conversions.
Guarisco wasn’t the only representative from District 7-1A on the team as he was joined on the second-team by Highland Baptist sophomore running back Bronte Griffin.
Tim Detillier of Class 3A state champion Lutcher High School was named the team’s Coach of the Year.
Lindsey Scott of Class 5A champion Zachary was Offensive Player of the Year, while Shyheim Carter of Kentwood was Defensive Player of the Year.
On the Acadiana Advocate’s team, Guarisco was joined by teammates, junior offensive lineman Thomas Garber, senior linebacker Tanner Wiggins and junior defensive back Jalen Johnson.
Garber helped pave the way for a Central Catholic offense that rushed for 3,652 yards this season.
Wiggins had 115 total tackles, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 14 tackles for loss.
Johnson had 68 tackles and four interceptions.
Notre Dame’s Hayden Bourgeois was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Other District 7-1A defensive selections included lineman Peyton Adams of Ascension Episcopal, linebacker William Noegel of Vermilion Catholic and defensive backs, Tyler Derouen and Emile Trahan, both of Vermilion Catholic.
Other District 7-1A offensive selections included quarterback Hunter Frith of Vermilion Catholic, running back Bronte Griffin of Highland Baptist, wide receivers Tyler Derouen of Vermilion Catholic and Ronald LeBlanc of Ascension Episcopal, offensive lineman Michael Remondet of Ascension Episcopal, and All-Purpose player Jake Arceneaux of Ascension Episcopal.
Notre Dame’s Lewis Cook, who led his team to a Division III title, was the Coach of the Year.
