Halimar Shipyard run-ruled Skipper’s Sporting Goods 14-1 in five innings in Swampland League action Tuesday.
Halimar (Central Catholic) scored in four consecutive innings, plating four in the second inning, three more in the third and two in the fourth for a commanding 9-0 lead.
While Skipper’s (Morgan City) plated a run in the bottom of the fourth, Halimar came back with five runs in the top of the fifth inning for the final margin.
Halimar had just eight hits in the contest but was walked six times. Skipper’s also committed three errors.
On the mound, Gregory Leger Jr. tossed a complete-game three-hitter for the win. In five innings, he surrendered an earned run on three hits with one walk and fanned seven.
Offensively, he finished 1-for-3, with two RBIs and two runs.
Matthew Barbier led Halimar with a 3-for-4 performance with a triple, two RBIs and a run, while Tony Pennison finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Other contributors included Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-2, an RBI and two runs; Stefano Guarisco, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; Sage Thibodeaux, 1-for-3, a double and two runs; Samuel Guarisco, an RBI and a run; and T.J. Ruffin, an RBI.
No individual statistics were available for Skipper’s.
Halimar (5-1) will return to action Thursday when it hosts the Mustangs (Assumption). Skipper’s (4-2) will return to action today when it travels to face the Braves (H.L. Bourgeois).
Taco Bell shuts out Reeco
Taco Bell (Berwick) shut out Reeco Rental Tools and Supply (Thibodaux) 2-0 in Swampland League action Tuesday in Berwick.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning when Taco Bell plated a run, while the home team plated another in the bottom of the sixth.
Taco Bell outhit Reeco in the win 6-5.
Brandon Fryou earned the win. In six innings, he surrendered five hits and fanned three.
Austin Price earned the save. In an inning of work, he struck out one.
Offensively, Bradley Gray led Berwick with a 1-for-2 performance with an RBI, while Chet Aucoin finished 1-for-2. Other contributors included Fryou, Cameron Wiley and Andrew Askew, all 1-for-2; and Neal Theriot Jr. and Daniel Gray, each 1-for-3.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell won 4-3 behind the pitching of Ian Valdez and Logan Angeron. Valdez pitched three innings, while Angeron tossed an inning.
Taco Bell (3-3) will return to action today when it hosts Assumption in a makeup game. Junior varsity is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
