Police: Man who fled from officers had gun, drugs

A 27-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Friday on gun and drug charges in Franklin after he ran from officers when they approached him near a nightclub, Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire said in a news release.
—Gerron Skipper, 27, of Dora Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana third offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer by flight, possession of a firearm by persons convicted of certain felonies, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and illegal possession of a firearm in the presence on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet.
Officers were in the area of a nightclub and saw two suspicious people with black hoodies on, McGuire said. Officers attempted to make contact with them due to a high number of burglaries in the city, McGuire said. Officers made contact with both individuals, and after asking for identification, Skipper ran from officers, McGuire said.
After a short foot pursuit, officers apprehended Skipper and located a 40-caliber Glock on him, McGuire said. The narcotics and paraphernalia were also located on him, McGuire said. Skipper was jailed. No bail is set.
Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Addie Geneve Breaux, 33, of the 300 block of Shell Beach Road in Pierre Part, at 3:35 p.m. Monday on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a shoplifting complaint at a local business. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Breaux walked out of the store wearing slippers that she did not pay for, Hebert said. Breaux was released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11, 2016.
—Brandy Armond, 36, of the 400 block of Tournament Boulevard in Berwick, at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Armond turned herself in to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville after learning of the arrest warrant. No bail is set.
—Kevin Thomas Fromenthal, 43, of the 800 block of Main Street in Patterson, at 12:22 a.m. Thursday on the charge of driving while intoxicated.
Deputies responded to a call regarding a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of U.S. 90 near the Baldwin area. Deputies later made contact with the driver, Fromenthal, as he had run his vehicle off the road, into a ditch. Deputies determined Fromenthal to be impaired. Fromenthal was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was released on bail set at $10,000.
—Robert Lee Ocon, 49, of the 800 block of Waterworks Road in Amelia, at 5:15 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with misdemeanor theft.
Ocon flagged down a deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area. He requested a check be done to see if he had any outstanding warrants for his arrest. The deputy learned that Ocon did indeed have a warrant for his arrest for the charge of theft. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted on Nov. 23. Investigators learned that Ocon is accused of stealing a $20 DVD player. Ocon was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. He was later released on a summons to appear in court Feb. 11, 2016.
—William Harness, 47, of the 1400 block of James Street in Siracusaville, at 10:55 p.m. Thursday on the charges of disturbing the peace and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Siracusaville area responded to a call that included details that a male had gained entry into a home on James Street via a window. The deputy made contact with the male in question, Harness, and found him to be intoxicated. The deputy learned that Harness made entry into the home by way of a window. Harness was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—A juvenile female, 14, of Amelia, at 7:03 p.m. Friday on the charges of disturbing the peace and criminal damage to property.
A deputy responded to a call of a disturbance on Chirpy’s Lane in Amelia. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the juvenile was arguing with a family member and then punched a window out of her bedroom. The juvenile was released back to family members pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Nathan Leif, 35, of the 1100 block of Delmar Road in Bayou Vista, at 8:33 p.m. Friday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a vehicle, and off-road vehicle on a public roadway.
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed an ATV being driven on Southeast Boulevard. The ATV was traveling northbound in a southbound lane. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, Leif. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Leif was impaired. Leif was transported to the St Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville for booking. He was released on bail set at $7,500.
—Desmon Cousin, 39, of the 700 block of Oregon Street in Berwick, at 12:27 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft. Cousin was transported from another jurisdiction and brought to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jasmine R. Broussard, 25, of Maple Street in Morgan City, at 2:30 p.m. Monday on warrants charging her with failure to appear for probation fee, misrepresentation during booking and deposit of license in lieu of security upon arrest.
Broussard turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants she held for the Morgan City Police Department and the Sixth Ward City Court. Broussard was booked and incarcerated.
—Ashley G. Hidalgo, 32, of Tupelo Street in Morgan City, at 8:28 p.m. Monday on the charges of reckless operation of a vehicle with an accident and stop sign violation.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Maple and Sycamore streets in regards to a vehicle crash. Officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle, Hidalgo, who stated she made a wide turn causing her to crash into a mailbox, Blair said.
Officers were able to see video surveillance of the crash. According to reports, Hidalgo was traveling at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign and crashed into a mailbox, Blair said. Hidalgo was jailed.
—Allen C. Lennep, 59, of Freret Street in Morgan City, at 9:40 p.m. Monday on the charges of misrepresentation during booking, theft less than $750, appearing in public intoxicated and on a warrant charging him with failure to appear.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Maine Street in regards to a theft. Officers arrived and spoke to the victim, who stated that Lennep had stolen a cellphone and a pack of cigarettes from him. Officers were able to locate Lennep on Freret Street.
Officers observed Lennep appeared to be in an intoxicated condition. During the investigation, officers located the items reported stolen in Lennep’s possession, Blair said. Lennep was transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the police department, police learned that Lennep had given the officer a false name and held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Shannon Wainwright, 43, of the 500 block of Fifth Street in Morgan City, at 1:25 p.m. Saturday on a warrant with Patterson Police Department for telephone harassment. Wainwright was released on $1,000 bail.
—Patrick Augman, 41, of the 1300 block of Ninth Street in Patterson, at 3:36 p.m. Saturday on a warrant with Patterson Police Department for theft by shop-lifting and remaining where forbidden. Augman was transferred to parish jail. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
