Taco Bell 5, Braves 3
Taco Bell defeated the Braves 5-3 in Berwick Monday.
Tanner Caldwell’s two-RBI single in the bottom of the sixth broke a 3-all tie and proved to be the winning runs.
Early on, the Braves took a 2-0 lead, while Taco Bell (Berwick) responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth for the lead.
The Braves (H.L. Bourgeois) tied the game at 3 in the top of the sixth.
While Taco Bell coach Mike Thomas said the game was a team victory, he noted the play of Collin Kulka, the team’s starting left fielder, who he said made three “hellacious plays” that prevented at least two to three more runs for the Braves.
Grant Oubre earned the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, he surrendered a hit, a walk and fanned one.
Austin Price started the game for Taco Bell. In 5.1 innings, he surrendered three runs — two earned — on five hits with one walk and fanned two.

Crawdaddy’s Seafood 7, Cardinal Lumber 3
Crawdaddy’s Seafood (Houma Christian) defeated Cardinal Lumber (Patterson High) 7-3 at Patterson Monday.
While Cardinal Lumber limited Crawdaddy’s Seafood to just four hits, Cardinal Lumber had three hits and seven errors.
Brad Beaubouef suffered the loss. In 5.1 innings, he surrendered seven runs — one earned — on four hits with three walks and fanned six.
“Brad Beaubouef finds out at the last minute we needed him to start on the mound, and he responded greatly,” Cardinal Lumber coach Ryan Jensen said Thursday. “He really threw well tonight, and if we could have played average defense behind him, then we win. I was really excited by his outing.”
Offensively, Brennen Gouaux led Cardinal Lumber with a 1-for-3 performance with an RBI, while Joel Singleton was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
“Offensively, we did nothing after the (second) inning and gave them everything,” Jensen said. “It was an extremely disappointing loss. We are too old for things like this.”
Cardinal Lumber (1-4) will return to action today when it travels to take on Crawdaddy’s Seafood. Junior varsity is set for a 3:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m.
