Hanson defeats CCHS, 5-2

Hanson held off a Central Catholic threat in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 5-2 victory in District 7-1A action in Bayou Vista Thursday.
Trailing 5-2, the Lady Eagles had the bases loaded with one out in the inning but could not get any closer as Hanson recorded the last two outs to end the game.
“This ball game came down to the last pitch of the game,” Central Catholic coach Joe Russo said. “Bases loaded with the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the (seventh). We played with big hearts tonight. We had a chance to beat a very good Hanson squad. This young team we have is gaining some respect. I could not be more proud of them.”
Central Catholic took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, and Hanson responded with two runs in the top of the fourth for a 2-1 advantage.
Hanson extended its lead to 4-1 in the top of the sixth before Central Catholic added a run in the bottom of the frame.
The Lady Tigers scored their final run in the top of the seventh.
Sarah Thomas suffered the loss for Central Catholic. In 61/3 innings, she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits with one walk and fanned two.
Offensively, Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with a 1-for-3 performance with an RBI and a run. Other top contributors included Brooke Lipari, 1-for-4, a triple; and Cameron McDaniel, an RBI.
Central Catholic (7-7 overall, 4-2 in district) will return to action today when it participates in Brusly’s tournament. The Lady Eagles will face Parkview Baptist today at 4 p.m. They also will face Archbishop Hannan Saturday at 11 a.m. and Brusly, Saturday at 5 p.m.
Morgan City falls to
Vandebilt Catholic
Morgan City committed seven errors and was limited to just five hits in an 8-1 loss to Vandebilt Catholic in District 7-4A action in Houma Thursday.
The loss was the first for Morgan City in district action.
Vandebilt took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added two runs in the third and three more in the fourth for a 6-0 advantage.
Morgan City plated its lone run in the top of the fifth, but Vandebilt Catholic responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame.
Dwanna LeBeau led Morgan City with a 1-for-4 performance with a double.
Kennedy Hebert suffered the loss for Morgan City. In a complete-game effort, she surrendered eight runs — just two earned — on seven hits with five walks and six strikeouts. She also hit one batter.
Morgan City (8-5, 3-1) will return to action today when it begins play in Brusly’s tournament with a 6 p.m. contest against Archbishop Hannan. The Lady Tigers will continue play Saturday with a 9 a.m. game against False River and a 3 p.m. contest against St. John of Plaquemine.
Patterson falls to E.D. White
Patterson fell to E.D. White, 19-3, in District 8-3A action in Thibodaux Thursday.
Tapanga Haven led Patterson with a 1-for-1 performance with two runs. Other top contributors included Emmeli Smith, 1-for-2; and Ashlynn Rock, 1-for-3 with a run.
Patterson (3-8, 2-4) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Erath in District 8-3A action.
