Hanson pounds Gueydan

GUEYDAN _ Ashley Meyerholtz picked up the win in the circle as the Hanson Memorial Tigers defeated the Gueydan Honey Bears 17-2 in four innings here Monday in District 7-1A action.
Meyerholt worked only four innings, facing 19 batters, giving up two runs on only four hits with one strikeout and one walk.

The No. 3 ranked Hanson Lady Tigers seized control early on with a 3-0 lead in the top half of the first inning. Gueydan fought back to trail Hanson by a 3-2 margin in the bottom of the first inning. Hanson stretched its lead to 6-2 in the top of the third frame before scoring 11 runs in the top of the fourth inning for the 17-2 victory.
In the top half of the fourth inning, Meyerholtz nailed down the victory in grand fashion with a fly out, strikeout and ground out to secure the 17-2 triumph.
Hanson (18-5, 11-1) will play host to Central Catholic of Morgan City today at 5 for Senior Night.
Hanson will travel to Highland Baptist on Saturday before closing out the regular season with a pair of tuneup games at Vandebilt Catholic of Houma on Monday and Assumption on Wednesday.
