Hanson Tigers pull out jamboree win

LAFAYETTE _ The Hanson Memorial Tigers squeezed past Ascension Episcopal 7-6 here Friday at the Lafayette Kiwanis Jamboree held at Teurlings Catholic.
Hanson’s Jeff Soulis scored on a one-yard plunge in the first half, helping the Tigers take a 7-0 lead.
Ascension Episcopal scored late in the game, but failed to connect on the point-after-try as the Tigers hung on for the 7-6 win.
Soulis led the Tigers on the ground with seven carries for 14 yards. Hanson’s Luke Rodriguez rushed for 16 yards while quarterback Bo Barrilleaux gained 12 yards and Britt Young finished with 13 yards.
Barrilleaux completed 5 of 10 passes for 38 yards.
Hanson will play host to the Jeanerette Tigers on Thursday at 7 p.m. at McCloskey Field in the season opener.
