CHS Bulldogs dismantle Highland Baptist
CENTERVILLE _ Three players scored in double digits, leading the Centerville Bulldogs to a 66-14 victory over Highland Baptist here Tuesday in District 7-1A action at the CHS Gym.
Centerville improved to 9-6 overall and 6-1 in District 7-1A.
The Bulldogs will host Gueydan on Friday, 3 games starting at 5:00.
Centerville sailed past Highland Baptist from the opening tip, building an insurmountable 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Centerville dominated the second and third quarters to the tune of 42-0 en route to a lop-sided 58-6 cushion. Both teams tallied eight points apiece in the final period as the Centerville Bulldogs strolled away with the 66-14 triumph. Centerville’s leading scorers included: Lance Howard, 10 points, 6 assists; Cole Candella, 10 points, 11 rebounds; Jaqualon Bourgeois 10 points, 5 steals, 4 assists; Marvin Strawder, 8 points, 4 steals; Desmond Monette, 8 points; Marquis Strawder, 8 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals; Karl Young, 4 points; Jayvien Thomas, 4 points; Devin Monette, 2 points and Giacomo Bonommi, 2 points.
Leading scorers for Highland Baptist were: Josh Horn, 7; Landon Jordan, 3; Brontre Griffin, 2 and Tyler Green, 2.

CHS Lady Bulldogs top Highland Baptist
CENTERVILLE _ Hailey McDaniel scored a game-high 24 points, leading the Centerville Lady Bulldogs to a 53-19 District 7-1A victory over Highland Baptist here Tuesday at the CHS Gym.
Centerville rallied from a 4-2 first quarter deficit, replacing it with a 21-11 lead at the half. The Lady Bulldogs seized control in the third quarter after taking a lop-sided 41-15 advantage thanks to a 20-4 run. Centerville went on a 12-4 flurry in the final period, earning the 53-19 league victory.
McDaniel tossed in a game-high 24 points to propel the Lady Bulldogs. Rylie Candella also poured in eight points for CHS.

‘Jacks turn back Hornets
The Patterson Lumberjacks pulled out a 72-53 District 8-3A victory over the Franklin Hornets Tuesday at the FSHS Gym.
Patterson assumed control at the end of the first quarter with a 15-6 advantage. The ‘Jacks nipped the Hornets 24-21 in the second quarter for a 39-27 cushion at intermission. Both teams tallied 18 points each in the third quarter before Patterson gained the 72-53 victory with an 18-11 flurry in the final period.
Kevin Ina and Tra’antray James led Franklin High in scoring with 14 points each. Rounding out the scoring for Franklin Senior High School were: Dwonyell Charles, 9; Justin Poledore, 6; John Boyd, 6; Jarius Boyd, 2 and LaDonte Tabor, 2.

HMS Tigers roll by Gueydan
The Hanson Memorial Tigers rolled past the Gueydan Bears, 62-35, Tuesday in the District 7-1A action at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Hanson Memorial raced outfront by a 25-8 score in the opening period. In the second period, the Tigers kept the hot hand, going on a 13-9 run for a 38-17 lead at intermission. Both teams poured in 11 points each in the third quarter as the Tigers moved to a 49-28 lead. Hanson Memorial went on a 13-7 flurry in the final period to coast to the 62-35 victory.
Hanson Memorial’s Bo Barrilleaux led the Tigers in scoring with a game-high 22 points on 4 3-pointers and 5 2-pointers. Britt Young also scored in double digits, draining 12 points on 6 floor shots.
Rounding out the scoring for the Tigers were: Brian Sonnier, 9; Brennan Young, 7; Josh Sanchez, 6; Robert Camors, 4; Clint Young, 2 and Kyler Clements, 1.

Hanson Lady Tigers edge Honey Bears
Carli Pellerin scored 17 points while Casey Fitzgerald added 16 points, propelling the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers to a 49-43 District 7-1A victory over the Gueydan Honey Bears Tuesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gymnasium.
Pellerin finished the night with 17 points on 4 3-pointers, a pair of 2-pointers and 1 of 2 free throws. Fitzgerald poured in 16 points on 4 treys and 2 deuces. Sarah Sonnier bagged eight points on three floor baskets along with 2 of 2 charity shots. Sonnier also finished the night with eight rebounds. Allyssa Young tossed seven points on floor shot and 5 of 10 freebies. Sarah Daniel connected on 1 of 2 free throws for one point. Baylee Young pulled down seven rebounds for the Lady Tigers.
Hanson Memorial opened with a 10-4 lead in the initial period. Gueydan fought back with an 11-9 run in the second quarter as the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers clung to a 19-15 cushion at the half. Hanson Memorial extended its lead to 31-23 in the third quarter following a 12-8 flurry. Down the stretch, Hanson Memorial held on to record the 49-43 District 7-1A victory.
