Eagles down Bulldogs
MORGAN CITY _ The Central Catholic Eagles earned a 64-51 District 7-1A victory over the Centerville Bulldogs here Tuesday at the CCHS Gym.
Centerville fell on the road at CC 64-51 to drop to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in 7-1A.
The Bulldogs will host Hanson on Friday night beginning at 5 with two games.
Leading scorers for Centerville were: Jaqualon Bourgeois, 22 points on 5-2’s, 4-3’s; Marvin Strawder, 9 points; Ryan Young, 7 points; Jayvien Thomas, 5 points; Marquis Strawder, 5 points and Devin Monette, 3 points.
Leading scorers for Central Catholic included: Jalen Johnson, 22 points; Elijah Swan, 15 points; Tanner Wiggins, 13 points; Blake Byrne, 11 points and Brooks Thomas, 3 points.

Hanson Memorial, VCHS split district victories
Vermilion Catholic’s Lady Eagles benefited from strong second and fourth quarters, claiming a 33-18 District 7-1A victory over the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers here Tuesday at the Billy Gene Talbot Gym.
VC went on an 11-1 run in the fourth quarter to gain the 33-18 lead.
Carli Pellerin led the Lady Tigers with seven points while Sarah Sonnier added five points. Casey Fitzgerald, Sarah Daniel and Baylee Young tossed in two points apiece. Young also had eight blocks and six rebounds for the Lady Tigers giving her a total of 88 blocks, rebounds and assists on the season.
Hanson will travel to play Centerville on Friday in District 7-1A action.
Hanson 52, VCHS 50
Kyler Clements made good on a pair of free throws with 7.2 seconds remaining, giving the Hanson Memorial Tigers a narrow 52-50 District 7-1A victory over the Vermilion Catholic Eagles.
Hanson’s Bo Barrilleaux did not play due to an illness.
Leading scorers for Hanson were: Brennan Young, 12; Brian Sonnier, 9; Britt Young, 8; Kyler Clements, 7; Clint Young, 6; Josh Sanchez, 5 and Josh Luke, 2.

THIBODAUX _ E. D. White High School’s Cardinals posted a 70-49 District 8-3A win over the Franklin Hornets here Tuesday night.
Leading scorers for Franklin were: Kevin Ina, 17; Dwonyell Charles, 14; Tra’antray James, 7; John Boyd, 6; Justin Poledore, 2; Zariq Perry, 2 and Jarius Boyd, 1.
