'Jacks drop district game to E.D. White

Patterson High School rallied in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s District 8-3A contest at E.D. White in Thibodaux to force overtime.
However, the Cardinals edged the Lumberjacks, 11-9, in the scoring column in the extra period for a 63-61 victory.
The loss was the Lumberjacks’ first this season in league play and also their first in district play since the 2015 season, snapping a 27-game winning streak.
With a record of 8-1 in league play, however, Patterson still leads the district standings by one game over North Vermilion, who is 7-2.
In Tuesday’s contest, Patterson trailed 40-33 after three quarters but outscored E.D. White, 19-12, in the fourth period for a 52-all tie at the end of regulation.
In the extra period, however, E.D. White outscored Patterson, 11-9.
E.D. White led 9-7 after the first quarter and 24-17 at halftime.
Jordan Butler led Patterson with 25 points, while Dajon Richard also reached double figures with 10. Other Patterson scorers included Elijah Williams, seven; Kai Schexnayder, five; John Brooks, Drew Lucas and James Butler, four points apiece; and Tyric Garrett, two.
Patterson (13-10) will return to action Friday when it hosts Erath in league play.
