Lady Eagles finish 3-0 this weekend

Central Catholic started its season off with a 3-0 mark this weekend at Terrebonne’s tournament, outscoring its three opponents a combined 32-0.
After defeating South Terrebonne 12-0 on Friday, the Lady Eagles run-ruled Patterson 10-0 in five innings Saturday before concluding the day with an 11-0 victory against Academy of Our Lady in five innings.
Against South Terrebonne, Central Catholic led just 2-0 heading into the sixth inning before erupting for seven runs in the frame.
Central Catholic added three more runs in the top of the seventh.
Megan Landry tossed a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Offensively, Landry finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Other top offensive contributors included Brittany Longman, 3-for-5, two doubles, an RBI and three runs; Brooke Lipari, 3-for-5, a double, two runs; Kaitlyn Gros, 2-for-4, a stolen base, two runs; Jordan Morvant, 1-for-1, two RBIs; Hallie Autin, 1-for-3, an RBI, a run; Taylor Picou, 1-for-1, a triple, a run; Bridgette Swan, 1-for-4, a double; and Tori Estay, an RBI.
In all, Central Catholic had 16 hits, including five doubles and one triple.
Against Patterson, Central Catholic scored all of its runs in the first three innings, plating three runs in the first, one in the second and six more in the third.
Landry again was dominant on the mound, tossing another one-hitter with 15 strikeouts. She didn’t walk anyone in her five innings pitching.
Offensively, Longman led the Lady Eagles with a 3-for-3 performance with a double, three RBIs and two runs.
Other top offensive contributors included Gros, 2-for-3, an RBI, a run; Megan Landry, 2-for-3, an RBI; Lipari, 2-for-3, two runs; Autin, 1-for-3, a double, two RBIs, a run; Brandi Landry, 1-for-1, an RBI; and Jena Teachman, 1-for-2, an RBI, a run.
Central Catholic totaled 14 hits.
Against Academy of Our Lady, Central Catholic plated four runs in the first and three more in the second for a 7-0 lead.
The Lady Eagles extended their lead with two more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Megan Landry again recorded double-digit strikeouts with 10, while only surrendering three hits and one walk in five innings.
Offensively, Lipari was a home run away from hitting for the cycle as she finished 3-for-4 with a single, a double and a triple as well as three runs.
Other top offensive contributors included Swan, 3-for-3, two RBIs, two runs; Autin, 2-for-3, two RBIs, two runs; Gros, 2-for-3; Longman, 1-for-3, an RBI, two runs; Megan Landry, 1-for-3, an RBI; and Brandi Landry, 1-for-4, an RBI.
In all, the Lady Eagles totaled 15 hits.
Central Catholic (3-0) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Terrebonne at 4 p.m. The game is a makeup contest from their originally scheduled contest from Thursday.
Patterson finished 1-2 at Terrebonne tournament
The Patterson Lumberjills finished 1-2 at Terrebonne’s tournament this weekend, defeating South Terrebonne, while falling to Central Catholic and Zachary.
On Friday, Patterson fell to Zachary 4-1.
No individual statistics were available from the contest.
On Saturday, Patterson fell to Central Catholic 10-0 in five innings.
Ashley Bonilla and Taylor Hall each finished 1-for-2 in the loss for Patterson.
Against South Terrebonne, Patterson earned its first win of the season with a 13-6 victory.
Nia Broussard finished 2-for-2 with three runs, while Emmeli Smith was 2-for-3 with a run and Gaylen Grogan, 2-for-4, three runs.
Earlier last week, Patterson opened its season with a 12-0 loss to H.L. Bourgeois Tuesday and fell to Houma Christian 6-3 Thursday.
Patterson (1-4) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Assumption in a 4 p.m. contest.
MCHS finishes 1-2 at
Terrebonne tourney
The Morgan City Lady Tigers finished 1-2 at Terrebonne’s tournament with a win against John Ehret, while the team fell to E.D. White and Academy of Our Lady.
On Friday, Morgan City fell to E.D. White 8-4.
Morgan City fell to Academy of Our Lady 4-3 on Saturday before bouncing back with a 14-3 victory against John Ehret.
No individual statistics were available.
In other Morgan City action on Thursday, Morgan City used a big sixth inning to overtake H.L. Bourgeois for good in an 8-4 win on the road.
While the teams traded the lead seven times, Morgan City took it for good in the sixth frame after a two-run error scored Hannah Gros and Allie Vincent.
In all, Morgan City scored five runs in the frame and H.L. Bourgeois committed two errors.
Brandi Ingram led Morgan City with a 2-for-3 performance with a double, a run and a stolen base, while Katelyn Alvarez finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
Tyler Hebert earned the win for Morgan City. In the complete-game victory, she surrendered four unearned runs on eight hits with one walk and fanned four. She also hit two batters.
The game, originally a home game for Morgan City, was moved to H.L. Bourgeois due to inclement field conditions at Morgan City as a result of rain Wednesday.
Morgan City (3-2) will return to action Monday when it travels to face Plaquemine in a 4 p.m. contest.
Berwick finishes 0-2
at Kaplan tournament
The Berwick Lady Panthers finished 0-2 at the Kaplan tournament, dropping its two games Saturday to Dutchtown and Church Point, respectively.
The Lady Panthers fell 13-0 to Dutchtown and 18-5 to Church Point.
No individual stats were submitted from the contests.
Berwick’s game against Delcambre Sunday was rained out.
In other action last week, Berwick fell to Assumption 9-6 on Thursday.
While Assumption took a 3-0 lead after two innings, Berwick tied the score in the top of the third and took a 5-3 lead after the top of the fourth.
However, Assumption came back with five runs in the fourth and another in the fifth for a 9-5 lead.
Berwick plated another run in the top of the sixth.
Sydney Aucoin suffered the loss for Berwick. In six innings, she surrendered nine runs on 11 hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Offensively, Shannon Theriot led Berwick with three hits, while other top contributors were Shelby Bergeron and Jordan Lipari, who each had two hit.
Berwick and Assumption each had 11 hits in the contest.
Berwick had six errors, while Assumption had four.
Berwick will return to action today when it travels to face New Iberia in a makeup game for the Lady Panthers’ season opener. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
