Lady Eagles rout Highland Baptist 12-0

Central Catholic High School defeated Highland Baptist 12-0 in five innings in District 7-1A action on the road Monday.
The Lady Eagles scored all of their runs in the first three innings as Central Catholic plated three in the first, two in the second and seven in the third.
On the mound, Central Catholic’s Megan Landry tossed a one-hitter in five innings with 13 strikeouts.
Offensively, Central Catholic recorded 11 hits, led by Landry’s 3-for-3 performance with a double and three RBIs.
Other top offensive contributors included Kaitlyn Gros, 2-for-3, a stolen base and two runs; Brooke Lipari, 2-for-4, two RBIs and three runs; Halley Romero, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; and Brittany Longman, an RBI and two runs.
Central Catholic (19-2 overall, 9-0 in district) will return to action today when it travels to face Hanson in a District 7-1A contest set for 4 p.m.
With a win, Central Catholic can claim no worse than a share of the District 7-1A title.
The game also will be a battle of top 10 Class 1A teams, according to the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association Power Rankings as Central Catholic is ranked No. 2 and Hanson, No. 10.
Today’s game will be broadcast on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 A.M.
Also, the Lady Eagles’ game Thursday against Ascension Episcopal has been moved to a 1 p.m. start due to umpires.
Plaquemine run-rules Patterson
The Patterson Lumberjills fell 12-2 to Plaquemine in five innings Monday on the road.
Top hitters for Patterson were Ashley Bonilla, 1-for-1; Ashlynn Rock, 1-for-3; and Gaylen Grogan, a single.
Patterson (8-14) will return to action Wednesday when it travels to face Abbeville in a 5 p.m. contest.
