Lady Tigers defeat Patterson 11-7

Morgan City High School defeated Patterson High School 11-7 in softball action Wednesday in Patterson.
While Patterson led 4-2 after the first inning and extended its lead to 5-2 after two innings, Morgan City took the lead for good with a six-run third inning for an 8-5 lead.
Patterson cut its deficit to 8-7 in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Morgan City countered with three runs in the top of the sixth for the win.
The game was filled with errors as Patterson committed seven and Morgan City, four.
Morgan City’s Tyler Hebert earned the win. In seven innings, she surrendered seven runs — four earned — on six hits with two walks and fanned nine.
Offensively, Dwanna LeBeau led Morgan City with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, a home run, three RBIs and two runs.
Other top contributors included Mattie Rivere, 2-for-4, a double and an RBI; Celestina Williams, 2-for-5, a double and a run; Brandi Ingram, 1-for-4, a triple, an RBI and three runs; Kennedy Hebert, 1-for-4, an RBI; and Aliya Green, 1-for-5, an RBI and two runs.
Taylor Hall suffered the loss for Patterson. She surrendered 11 runs on 11 hits, two walks and fanned 11.
Offensively, Hailey Sehon led the Lumberjills with a 2-for-3 performance with a triple, a stolen base and two runs.
Other top hitters included Emmeli Smith, 2-for-4 with four RBIs; Ashlynn Rock, 2-for-4, a double, two RBIs, a stolen base and two runs; Ashley Bonilla, 2-for-4; and Tapanga Haven, 1-for-3, a double, a walk, an RBI and a run.
Morgan City (12-7) will return to action today when they travel to face South Terrebonne in a District 7-4A contest. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
Patterson (7-13) will hit the road today for a nondistrict contest against French Settlement. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
Teurlings edges Berwick
Teurlings Catholic edged Berwick, 10-9 in nondistrict action at Teurlings Wednesday.
Teurlings, the No. 3-ranked team in Class 4A according to the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A power rankings, took a 6-1 lead after the first inning.
However, Berwick responded with four runs in the third and two more in the fourth for a 7-6 advantage.
Teurlings retook the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and plated one each in the fifth and sixth innings for a 10-7 lead.
Berwick’s seventh inning rally fell short as the Lady Panthers plated two runs for the final.
Sydney Aucoin suffered the loss for Berwick. Aucoin, who started but didn’t retire a batter, surrendered six runs on four hits with two walks.
In six innings, reliever Jordan Lipari surrendered four runs on three hits with one walk and fanned one.
Offensively, Shannon Theriot had three hits, two stolen bases and an RBI, while Jaci Arnold had two hits — including a double — and three RBIs.
Other top offensive contributors included Shelby Bergeron, two doubles and an RBI; Caroline Osburn, two hits and an RBI; and Lipari, a hit and two RBIs.
Berwick (12-16) will have a long break before returning to action April 10 when it participates in John Curtin’s tournament in Metairie.
Central Catholic beats Vermilion Catholic
Central Catholic remained perfect in District 7-1A action with a 2-1 victory against Vermilion Catholic Wednesday on the road.
While Central Catholic took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the score remained the same until the Lady Eagles pushed across another in the top of the fourth.
Vermilion Catholic plated its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Megan Landry tossed a one-hitter in the win. In seven innings, she surrendered just one run, two walks and fanned nine.
Offensively, Brooke Lipari led Central Catholic with a 3-for-4 performance with a double and a run.
Other top offensive contributors included Bridgette Swan, 1-for-3 with a double, and Brittany Longman, 1-for-4 with a double.
Central Catholic (18-2 and 8-0 in district) will return to action Monday when it travels to face Highland Baptist in a District 7-1A contest set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
