Lady Tigers earn first win

The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers’ soccer team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday with an 8-0 mercy rule victory against New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy in District 6-III action the road.
The Lady Tigers got a hat trick from Allie Vincent, who scored goals in the fifth, 15th and 17th minutes.
Hannah Toups added goals in the 24th and 26th minutes for a 5-0 Morgan City lead at the half.
Morgan City added three more goals in the second half, two by Angie Sagastizado in the 48th and 50th minutes and another by Hayden Trotter in the 70th minute to end the game.
Morgan City (1-12-1 overall, 1-3 in district) will return to action today when it hosts Lutcher in District 6-III action.

The Morgan City High School Tigers’ soccer team defeated New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy 7-1 in District 6-III road action Wednesday.
The Tigers started off slower than the Lady Tigers, Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said, with Edgar Calderon scoring the game’s first goal in the 24th minute.
Joshua Nguyen extended Morgan City’s lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 28th minute and right before halftime, Keny Valle-Ramos gave Morgan City a 3-0 advantage.
In the second half, NOMMA scored its lone goal of the game to cut Morgan City’s deficit to 3-1.
Morgan City responded with four goals via a Daniel Valadez penalty kick in the 50th minute, a Jose Aguilera shot in the 53rd minute, another goal by Valle-Ramos in the 58th minute and one by Irving Montes in the 78th minute.
Morgan City (6-10-2, 1-3) will return to action today when it hosts Lutcher in District 6-III action. Action is start for a 7 p.m. start.
