The Morgan City Lady Tigers will begin postseason play Tuesday when it hosts West Ouachita in a 6 p.m. contest.
The Lady Tigers, the No. 16 seed, will be looking to keep their season going and snap a four-game losing streak.
This year’s Morgan City (14-13 overall, 4-4 in district) among the players on this year’s Morgan City squad are pitcher Tyler Hebert, who is entering her third year as the Lady Tigers’ ace, and returning Class 4A All-State honorable mention selection Aliyah Green. One senior on this year’s squad, Marilynn Bailey, has been selected to participate in the Louisiana Coaches Association All-Star game next month.
The Lady Tigers also have gotten some power at the plate from the bat of Brandi Ingram.
West Ouachita makes the long trip to Morgan City Tuesday as the District 2-4A runner-up. The squad boasts a 14-14 overall mark, including a 5-3 district record.
Morgan City coach Tamara Keller said she doesn’t have a scouting report on them but the Lady Tigers have seen them a few years ago.
“We’re looking for a pretty close game,” she said. “I think we’re going to be pretty evenly matched.”
Both Morgan City and West Ouachita have one common opponent in Lutcher, who beat run-ruled Morgan City 17-2 and beat West Ouachita 7-2.
West Ouachita also played Class 4A’s top seed, Cabrini, falling in a 2-1 contest to the New Orleans school earlier this season.
Morgan City owns a win this season against Class 4A’s fifth seed, Ellender, in which Hebert tossed a no-hitter.
