Lady Tigers win; Tigers fall to South Terrerbonne

BOURG — The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated South Terrebonne 36-21 in District 7-4A action Wednesday.
The Lady Tigers outscored South Terrebonne in every quarter en route to the victory. Morgan City led 10-6 after the first quarter, 17-9 at halftime and 25-16 after three quarters.
Casey Chenevert led the Lady Tigers with 24 points, while other top scorers included Laqwajhia Bourgeois with six and Kaylyn Washington, four.
Tigers fall to Gators
The Morgan City High School basketball team fell at South Terrebonne Wednesday, 61-49, in District 7-4A action.
South Terrebonne didn’t pull away from the Tigers until the fourth quarter. The Gators led 18-14 after the first quarter, 32-28 at halftime, and 45-40 after three quarters.
Marquise Green led the Tigers with 17 points, while Jaylen Jones added nine. Other top scorers included Buddy Humphrey, eight; Clifton Escort, seven; and Abram Hartley, six.
The Tigers connected on 11 3-pointers.
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers will return to district action today when they travel to face Ellender in Houma. The girls’ varsity game will begin at 6 p.m., while the boys’ varsity contest will follow at 7:30 p.m.
In other area action today, Central Catholic’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will host Hanson Memorial. Girls’ varsity will begin at 6 p.m. and boys’ varsity is set to follow at 7 p.m. The games will be broadcast on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM.
Meanwhile, the Patterson Lumberjacks will travel to Houma to face Vandebilt Catholic in a 7 p.m. contest and the Patterson Lumberjills will be in action at Riverside Academy in a 6 p.m. contest in Reserve.
Berwick will travel to face Franklin in boys’ and girls’ action with the Lady Panthers facing Franklin at 6:30 p.m. and the Panthers to follow at 7:30 p.m.
