Lumberjacks run-rule Bonnabel, 16-6

The Patterson Lumberjacks run-ruled Bonnabel 16-6 in six innings Tuesday.
The Lumberjacks had eight hits and also benefited from eight Bonnabel errors.
Patterson scored in every inning, taking a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
While Bonnabel cut its deficit to 5-3 in the top of the second inning, the Lumberjacks responded with two runs each in the second, third and fourth innings, one in the fifth and four more in the sixth to end the game.
“It was great to get a win after having a tough weekend,” Patterson coach Ryan Jensen said, referencing a 0-2 performance during the weekend at Hanson’s tournament. “We took advantage of some miscues and were able to have (two) really big innings to put the game out of reach. I thought we were better defensively tonight, and I also thought Blake Dreyer did a great job behind the plate controlling their running game.”
Tyrik Singleton led the Lumberjacks with a 2-for-5 performance with two RBIs and a run, while Kenny Singleton finished 1-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top contributors included Taylor Harris, 1-for-3, an RBI and three runs; Jake Lagrange, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; Joel Singleton, 1-for-4, an RBI and a run; Sirbatian Charles, 1-for-3, a triple and two runs; and Jamey Fabre, an RBI.
Kenny Singleton earned the win for the ’Jacks. In 5.2 innings, he surrendered six runs — three earned — on five hits with five walks and fanned five.
“Kenny did a good job eating innings for us on the mound and competing,” Jensen said.
Patterson (5-3) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in Central Catholic’s Baseball Tournament Thursday at 5:30 p.m. against Carencro.
“We will have to play our best baseball of the season this weekend to beat any of our opponents,” Jensen said. “It will be a good challenge that we need as we move forward.”
Comeaux run-rules CCHS
Central Catholic got off to a bad start Tuesday, surrendering seven runs and committing five errors in the first inning and things didn’t get any better as the squad was run-ruled 15-5 by Comeaux in five innings Tuesday for its first loss of the season.
“This was an ugly game from the very beginning,” Central Catholic coach Tyler Jensen said. “We did not come out with any sense of urgency, and it showed. You cannot make (five) errors in a game, much less the (first) inning, and expect to beat good teams. We were not ready to play, and I blame myself for that. I have to find a way to get these guys going early on in games. Starting slow has become the norm for us, and it is becoming alarming. We took steps backward today, and that’s disappointing.”
Blake Hidalgo suffered the loss for the Eagles.
Samuel Guarisco and Barron Courtney each finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run, while Bryson Barbier was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Nick Case recorded an RBI.
The Eagles (5-1) will return to action Thursday when they begin play in their annual tournament Thursday with a 7:45 p.m. contest against Ellender.
Elsewhere, Berwick’s contest at Riverside Tuesday was pushed back to today at 4 p.m., while Morgan City’s contest at Belle Chasse Tuesday was rained out and may be made up later this season.
