Lumberjills beat Franklin, 39-31, to break losing streak

The Patterson Lumberjills broke a nine-game losing streak and won their first District 8-3A contest of the season Tuesday with a 39-31 victory against Franklin in Patterson.
While Patterson trailed 12-10 after a quarter and 22-20 at halftime, the Lumberjills outscored Franklin, 8-2, in the third quarter for a 28-22 lead after three complete. Patterson extended its lead in the fourth period with an 11-7 scoring advantage.
Kemprielle Williams led Patterson with 17 points, while Makayla Ruiz added 15. Kemiah Watson added seven.
Patterson (4-12 overall, 1-8) won’t return to action until Jan. 31 when it hosts Kaplan in district action.
Morgan City edges Vandebilt Catholic
The Morgan City Lady Tigers snapped a four-game losing streak and won their first District 7-4A contest of the season with a 52-50 victory against Vandebilt Catholic in Houma Tuesday.
Alisha Singleton led Morgan City with 31 points. Other Morgan City scorers included Sh’Diamond Holly, 10; Hailey Lewis, six; Nia Lightfoot, four; and Twanna LeBeau, one.
Friday, Morgan City fell to South Terrebonne, 51-32.
Singleton led the squad with nine points. Other scorers included Lightfoot, eight; Lewis, four; and Holly, three.
Morgan City (7-9, 1-4) will return to action Friday when it hosts Assumption in a 6 p.m. contest.
Berwick falls to North Vermilion
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to North Vermilion Tuesday, 56-23, in District 8-3A action in Berwick.
No individual Berwick stats were submitted.
The Lady Panthers (3-17, 1-7) will return to action Friday when they travel to face Franklin.
CCHS defeats Ascension Episcopal
Central Catholic defeated Ascension Episcopal, 39-32, in District 7-1A action in Youngsville Monday.
Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with 15 points, while Hallie Autin scored 11.
Central Catholic (10-10, 4-5) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Lafayette Christian in district play.
