The Morgan City High School baseball program will have its third head coach in less than a year as head coach Jimmy Agent, who was hired this past summer, will not be coaching because of health reasons, Morgan City Principal Mickey Fabre said last week.
Fabre said newly hired Athletic Director Scott Tregle will serve as head coach while assistants will include Morgan City assistant Principal Tim Hymel, Gayle Robinson and Kenny Alfred. All three assistants at one time served as head coach of the Morgan City baseball program.
Fabre said he was excited to have the coaches on staff.
“That’s names that are rich here in the Morgan City community …. so we’ll have those guys standing on Tiger Diamond,” he said.
The Morgan City principal said he hopes the changes lead to success on the baseball field.
“Our kids are exited, our parents are excited, and our baseball program which, that’s big here at Morgan City, we’re hoping that it shows in the win and loss column at the end of the year.”
Agent was hired at Morgan City last summer after Morgan City lost its baseball coach, Marc Gonzales, after last year’s Swampland baseball season. Gonzales left Morgan City to take a job at Thibodaux High School.
A message left on Agent’s voicemail Monday afternoon for comment was not returned.
