MCHS falls in five innings to Belle Chasse
Belle Chasse used a 12-run second inning to ease past Morgan City High School 16-3 in five innings Friday.
While Morgan City took leads of 1-0 in the top of the first inning and 3-2 after their at bat in the second inning, Belle Chasse took the lead for good with a 12-run outburst in the bottom of the second inning before adding to more runs in the fourth inning.
Belle Chasse had nine hits in the second inning, including three doubles.
Morgan City was only outhit 13-9 in the contest, but assistant coach Tim Vidos said the squad was hurt by five errors. They also walked six.
“We made mistakes that should not be made this late in the season, situations that we practice on a regular basis,” Vidos said.
Evan Stadalis took the loss for Morgan City.
Offensively, Nick Spinella led the Tigers with a 3-for-4 performance, while Grant Perry was 2-for-2 and John Ross McNemar, 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Morgan City (8-10) will return to District 7-4A action Tuesday when it plays Ellender in Houma. Junior varsity will begin at 4 p.m. with varsity to follow. Ellender will come to Morgan City to face the Tigers Thursday.
“The two-game series with Ellender this week is huge,” Vidos said. “Two wins would keep us no worse than tied for first.”
Patterson game
rescheduled
Patterson’s baseball game at Centerville, originally scheduled for April 26, has been moved to April 14. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
