MCHS Lady Tigers top Vandebilt Catholic

The Morgan City Lady Tigers snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 43-12 win against Vandebilt Catholic in District 7-4A play in Morgan City Tuesday.
The win was the first for the Lady Tigers since the championship game of Centerville’s tournament on Dec. 4 against H.L. Bourgeois and helped Morgan City even the season series with Vandebilt Catholic after falling to the Lady Terriers during the first round of district play.
“Great home win for our girls,” Morgan City coach Taylor Crappell said. “They played team ball and communicated the whole night.”
Laqwaijha Bourgeois led Morgan City with 23 points.
Other scorers included Meya Morse, seven; Sh’Diamond Holly, six; Twanna LeBeau, four; and India Bennett, two.
Morgan City (5-12 overall, 1-5 in district) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Assumption in District 7-4A action.
Patterson falls to Franklin
The Patterson Lumberjills fell to Franklin High, 40-33, in District 8-3A girls’ basketball action Tuesday in Franklin.
Alex Benjamin led Patterson with 13 points, while Erykah Singleton also reached double figures with 11 points.
Other scorers included Nyla Holder and Kemiah Watson, four points apiece, and Kem Williams, one.
Patterson (7-9, 4-4) will return to action Monday at 5:30 p.m. when it faces Kaplan on the road in District 8-3A action.
