MCHS plays Vandebilt Catholic in tennis

Morgan City and Vandebilt Catholic met on the tennis courts in Morgan City Wednesday.
In girls’ singles action, Morgan City’s Harleigh Price defeated Vandebilt Catholic’s Campbell Babin, 6-0, 6-0, while Morgan City’s Alexia Morgan fell to Vandebilt Catholic’s Juliette Smith, 0-6, 2-6.
In girls’ doubles action, Bailee Hoggatt and Krystina Pitre defeated Juliet Rall and Julia Fondren, 6-0, 6-0. Morgan City’s Faith Crappell and Jolee Nini defeated a duo from Vandebilt, 6-0, 6-2, while Morgan City’s Emily LaCoste and Katelyn Gautreaux topped Vandebilt Catholic’s Emma Guidry and Madeline Cenac, 6-2, 6-2. Morgan City’s Emily Boudreaux and Caylee Deshotel defeated Vandebilt Catholic’s Madison McElroy and Kate Chaisson, 6-1, 6-2.
In boys’ singles action, Morgan City’s Zack Ingram fell to Vandebilt Catholic’s Josh McCain, 0-8, while Morgan City’s Brandon Rock fell to Vandebilt Catholic’s Eval Olsen, 3-8.
In boys’ doubles action, Ingram and Tyler Hebert defeated Vandebilt Catholic’s Hunter Bates and Ben Leary, 8-6. Morgan City dropped its other three doubles matches as Hebert and Jaden Breaux fell to Jeremy Rome and Evan Freeman, 3-8; Hebert and Breaux fell to Jon Bonvillain and Jackson Haydel, 3-8 and Luke Matherne and Rock fell to Brock Daigle and Luke Anderson, 3-8.
On Tuesday, Morgan City faced Catholic High-New Iberia.
In girls’ singles action, Price fell 0-8 and Morgan fell 0-8.
In girls’ doubles action, Morgan City’s Pitre and Hoggatt won 8-4, while Crappell and Nini won 8-3. Boudreaux and Deshotel were victorious 8-1. LaCoste and Gautreaux fell, 2-8.
In boys’ singles action, Ingram and Rock both fell 0-8.
In boys’ doubles action, Hebert and Breaux fell 0-8.
Morgan City will return to action Tuesday when it faces Berwick.

Berwick and CCHS squared off Tuesday in Morgan City.
In boys’ singles action, Central Catholic’s Connor Hebert defeated Berwick’s Brennan Benedetto, 8-4, while Hebert defeated Berwick’s Josh Sanford, 8-6. Berwick’s William Hymel defeated Central Catholic’s Luke Brinkley, 8-4, and Brinkley defeated Berwick’s Abram Gilder, 9-7.
In doubles action, Berwick’s Stephen Theriot and Cade Thibodeaux defeated Central Catholic’s Gavin Wisdom and Jon Gilmore, 8-6, while Berwick’s Beau Boudreaux and Austin Cavalier defeated Gilmore and Wisdom, 8-4.
In girls’ singles action, Central Catholic’s Lindsee Case defeated Berwick’s Anna Armato, 6-4, 6-0, while Berwick’s Mary Reggie defeated Central Catholic’s Kerrilyn Luc, 8-4.
In other singles action, Berwick’s Macy Landry defeated Central Catholic’s Grace Granger, 8-3.
In girls’ doubles action, Berwick’s Mary Grace Hymel and Adela Guidroz defeated Luc and Elsie Daigle, 8-3, while Berwick’s Allie Billiot and Natalie Bourgeois defeated Granger and Katie Navarro, 8-0.
In other doubles action, Berwick’s Natalie Mayon and Gabby Robicheaux defeated Navarro and Daigle, 8-4, while Central Catholic’s Emma Thomas and Ashley Daigle defeated Berwick’s Maddie Osburn and Olivia Orlando, 6-0, 4-6 and 7-5 after being down 5-1 in the third set.
