MCHS remains perfect, advances to bi-regionals

The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers bowling team advanced to the state’s western bi-regional after knocking off rival Central Catholic in girls’ regional action at Creole Lanes Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers (13-0), the regional’s top seed, led Central Catholic 5.5 to 2.5 after one game and 9.5-6.5 after two games, but Morgan City took each game in the final contest on their way to the win.
Meghan Amador led the Lady Tigers with a 613 series, including games of 223, 159 and 231. Other top bowlers for the Lady Tigers were Hannah Pipes, 482 series (169, 165) and Kristi Wright 471 series (155, 167).
Jada Pennison led No. 8 Central Catholic (4-9) with a 472 series, including games of 164 and 172.
Central Catholic advanced to play Morgan City after knocking off No. 9 South Terrebonne 19.5-7.5.
Ann Mary Dupius led Central Catholic with a 471 series, including games of 181 and 164, while Pennison (174) and Christian Carbins (155) also were top contributors.
Along with Morgan City (13-0), No. 4 Ellender (8-4), No. 2 H.L. Bourgeois (12-1) and No. 3 Vandebilt Catholic (11-2) all advanced to the state’s western bi-regionals, which will be held Monday at Petrol Bowl in Lake Charles.
Ellender advanced after knocking off No. 5 Berwick (5-7) 21-6.
Elle Arcemont led the Lady Panthers with a 468 series, including games of 168 and 158.
Other top Berwick bowlers included Josie Estay (178) and Mickenzie Reed (163).
In singles’ competition, Berwick’s Arcemont, Estay and Reed all advanced to bi-regionals as well as Central Catholic’s Pennison. Pennison had the top average among Tri-City area qualifiers with a 157, while Arcemont was right behind at 156. Estay turned in a 149 average and Reed, a 144.
Singles play also will be held Monday at Petro Bowl in Lake Charles.
