MCHS Tigers fall to South Terrebonne

South Terrebonne High School shut out Morgan City 3-0 in District 7-4A action at Tiger Diamond Saturday.
South Terrebonne plated a run in the fourth and two in the sixth innings.
Meanwhile, Morgan City had runners at first and second base in the first, fifth and seventh innings but could not push across any runs.
Offensively, Evan Stadalis finished 2-for-2 for Morgan City, while Philip Hutchinson was 2-for-3.
Nick Spinella suffered the loss for Morgan City. In 6.2 innings, he surrendered eight hits, three walks and fanned seven.
Morgan City (10-11 overall, 5-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face South Terrebonne in a 4 p.m. contest.

Vermilion Catholic
In a battle of top 10 teams in Class 1A, No. 6 Vermilion Catholic dominated No. 2 Central Catholic with an 11-4 upset win in Abbeville Friday.
While Central Catholic and Vermilion Catholic were tied at 1 entering the bottom of the second inning, the Screaming Eagles took control with a combined 10 runs in the second and third innings, including a seven-run outburst in the third, for an 11-1 lead.
Central Catholic plated a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh inning.
The Eagles left 11 runners on base in the contest and were outhit 11-7.
Offensively, Samuel Guarisco led the Eagles with a 2-for-4 performance with a double and a run, while Sage Thibodaux was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base; Charlie Barron, 1-for-3, an RBI; and Nick Case and Tyler Hoffpauir each contributed an RBI.
Bryson Barbier suffered the loss. In three innings, he surrendered 11 runs — 10 earned — on nine hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
In three innings of relief, Patrick Barron surrendered two hits, two walks and fanned four.
Friday’s loss snapped an 11-game winning streak for the Eagles that dated back to a 3-1 loss to E.D. White on March 18 and also was the Eagles’ first district loss of the season.
Central Catholic (19-3 overall, 7-1 in district) will return to action today when it hosts Hanson in a 6 p.m. district contest. The game will be broadcast on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM.
