MCHS Tigers rout Franklin 17-2

The Morgan City Tigers started their 2014 season in dominating fashion with a 17-2 run-rule victory against Franklin in five innings.
The Tigers never trailed as they struck for eight runs in the first inning and six more in the second to take a 14-1 lead after two innings.
The Tigers added one in the third and two in the fourth, while the Hornets scored their other run in the fourth.
Nick Spinella earned the win for Morgan City. In three innings, he surrendered one unearned run on one hit with one walk and fanned six.
In two innings of relief, Evan Stadalis surrendered one run on two hits and fanned two.
Brady Fryou led the Tigers at the plate with a 2-for-2 performance with three runs, while Spinella finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 18-0.
Rhett Fryou earned the win as he tossed three innings of no-hit ball and fanned seven.
Morgan City (1-0) will return to action Friday when it begins play in its tournament against Berwick in a 7 p.m. contest.
