Morgan City beats Jeanerette

Morgan City High School began its season with a 62-51 victory against Jeanerette High School in opening round action at Jeanerette’s tournament.
While the Tigers led 15-14 at the end of the first quarter, Jeanerette took the lead in the second quarter and trailed by 12 near halftime.
However, Morgan City managed to cut its deficit to 29-25 at the half.
Morgan City took the lead in the third quarter with a 21-11 scoring advantage for a 46-40 lead after three quarters.
Morgan City outscored Jeanerette 16-11 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Morgan City had three players in double figures led by 14 points each from Tywaun Walker and Marvin Young.
Others reaching double figures were Makye Richard with 11 points and Jaylen Jones with 10.
Rounding out Morgan City’s scorers were Lloyd Singleton with seven points, Brady Fryou, four points; and Dustin Harris, two.
Morgan City will return to action in the tournament Friday when it meets West St. Mary in a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
