Patterson Lumberjills defeat Jeanerette, 49-29

The Patterson Lumberjills defeated Jeanerette 49-29 in action Tuesday.
Erykah Singleton led the Lumberjills with 12 points, three rebounds and one steal, while Makayla Ruiz also reached double figures with 10 points as well as two rebounds and one assist.
Other top contributors for Patterson included Jazmin Evans, eight points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal; Nakia Brooks, eight points, one rebound, two assists and one steal; Alex Benjamin, three points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal; Nyla Holder, two points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal; Nia Broussard, two points and six rebounds; Gaylen Grogan, two points, two rebounds and one assist; and Kemprielle Williams, two points.
Last week, Patterson defeated Houma Christian 52-44 and fell to Abbeville, 39-36, both at Hanson’s tournament.
Patterson (6-6) will return to action Friday when it begins play in Central Catholic’s Lady Eagle Christmas Classic with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Ellender.
Patterson boys fall
to De LaSalle
The Patterson Lumberjacks suffered their first loss of the season, an 80-70 setback at home to De La Salle, Monday.
Despite the loss, Patterson had four players reach double figures led by Taylan Grogan with 20 points.
Others reaching double figures were Mykel Jones and Nehemiah Augustus with 14 each and Kenneth Washington with 10.
D.J. Jones added eight points in the loss.
Patterson (4-1) will return to action Friday when it begins play in St. Martinville’s tournament with a 6 p.m. contest against Westgate.
Morgan City falls
to South Lafourche
Morgan City fell to South Lafourche, 57-47, in boys’ basketball action Monday on the road.
While the Tigers led 9-7 after the first period, South Lafourche outscored Morgan City 21-16 in the second period for a 28-25 lead at the half.
Morgan City tied the score after three quarters at 34-all before South Lafourche outscored Morgan City 23-13 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Morgan City had six three-pointers in the contest, including four by Makye Richard.
Tywaun Walker led Morgan City with 13 points, while Richard had 12 points to lead Morgan City.
Other scorers for Morgan City include Brady Fryou with seven points; Deondre Walker and Keshawn Marshall, four points each; Abram Hartley, three points; and Marvin Young and Jaylen Jones, two points each.
Morgan City (8-5) will return to action Jan. 6 when it hosts Kaplan in a 6 p.m. contest.
CCHS falls to
White Castle
Central Catholic fell to White Castle, 60-36, in White Castle Monday.
No individual statistics were available today.
Central Catholic (2-7) will return to action today when it hosts Teurlings Catholic. Junior varsity boys’ action will begin at 5 p.m. and after the 6 p.m. girls’ game, the boys’ varsity game is set to begin.
Berwick goes 2-0
this weekend
Berwick won two games at Hanson Memorial’s tournament this weekend, knocking off Loreauville, 43-40, and then defeating Houma Christian, 48-43, in overtime in the third-place game.
Against Loreauville, Kenan Jones led Berwick with 16 points, while Donald Tillman added nine points.
Other scorers for Berwick were Audwin Williams with eight and Brandon Naverro with four points.

Other scorers for Berwick were Dralyn West, seven points; and Williams, six points.
Jones and Tillman were named to the all-tournament team.
