Patterson Lumberjills sweep Franklin
Patterson High School swept Franklin 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-21) in action at Patterson High Tuesday.
The Lumberjills had 23 aces in the win, led by Arian Grogan’s 10. She also had five kills and one block.
Other top contributors included Makayla Ruiz, six aces, three kills and six digs; Erykah Singleton, four kills and one block; Josie Merida, two aces and 11 assists; and Katelyn Larson, three aces and five digs.
Patterson (5-7) will return to action today when it travels to face South Terrebonne, the No. 3 team in Division II, according to the latest unofficial power rankings released by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Tuesday. The varsity-only event will begin at 4 p.m.
South Terrebonne
sweeps Morgan City
Morgan City played up one division against South Terrebonne Tuesday, and while the Lady Tigers were in all three games, they couldn’t pull out the victory falling 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 26-24) in Morgan City.
Morgan City had 30 kills and 84 digs in the loss.
Alex Thompson had 10 kills and two digs for Morgan City, while teammate Kennedy Hebert added four kills, three blocks and 19 digs.
Other top contributors included Katelyn Gautreaux, one assist and 23 digs; Dwanna LeBeau, seven kills and three digs; Cecily Feliciano, five kills, one block and seven digs; Allie Vincent, one kill, 12 assists and five digs; Abby Reynaud, three kills, 11 assists and one dig; Brandi Albarado, 13 digs; Paige Loftin, six digs; and Kaitlyn Gros, five digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-11, 25-23).
Reynaud led Morgan City with three kills, four assists and seven digs, while Faith Crappel had one ace, one kill and 10 digs.
Other top contributors included McKenzi Smith, one kill and five digs, and Sh’Diamond Holly, two kills, one block and one dig.
In freshmen action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-11, 25-23).
Nia Lightfoot led the Lady Tigers with four kills, one block and 13 digs.
Other top contributors included Karmen Peterson, three kills, two blocks and eight digs; Jolee Nini, one ace, nine assists and four digs; and Hallie Blanchard, one kill and seven digs.
Morgan City (6-7) will return to action today when it hosts Assumption, the No. 7 team in Division II according to the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s latest power rankings.
Academy of Our Lady sweeps Central Catholic
Central Catholic falls to Academy of Our Lady 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-18).
Hallie Autin led the squad with four kills, three aces and six digs, while Quincee Wiggins had four kills and six digs.
Other top contributors included Yani Johnson, six blocks; Taylor Picou, 10 assists; and Brooke Lipari, 10 digs.
Academy of Our Lady entered the contest as the 10th-ranked team in Division II.
Central Catholic (10-12) will return to action Monday when it travels to face John Curtis in a varsity-only contest set for 4:30 p.m.
Berwick falls
to Assumption
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to Assumption 3-0 (25-12, 25-5, 25-15).
Ashton Morales led Berwick with three kills, two assists and one dig, while Brittany Roberie had six digs.
Other top contributors included Emma Hover, two aces and four digs; Sydney Aucoin, two kills and one block; and Mary Jordan Melancon, two assists and two digs.
In junior varsity action, Berwick fell 2-0 (25-21, 25-14), while in freshman action, Berwick fell 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 12-15).
Berwick (5-5) will return to action today when it travels to face Thibodaux. Junior varsity action will begin at 4 p.m. with varsity and freshman action to follow.
