Patterson rolls past Bell City

We were fortunate to jump out early and get everyone in the game.

The Patterson Lumberjacks rolled past Bell City in six innings Saturday in a 12-0 win.
While the Lumberjacks originally were scheduled to play Hamilton Christian on the road, Hamilton Christian asked to cancel the game Friday, Patterson coach Ryan Jensen said.
The Patterson skipper was able to find Bell City to fill the open slot.
On the field, his squad didn’t disappoint, putting up six runs in the first inning, two in the second frame and four more in the top of the sixth.
The Patterson offense pounded out 12 hits in the contest, while its pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts and surrendered three hits.
“We were fortunate to jump out early and get everyone in the game,” Jensen said. “Every player had at least (two) plate appearances, and we were able to see (five) different people on the mound and get some quality work in. I thought it was good to take a long road trip and sort of get used to things we maybe would encounter if we were to make the playoffs.”
Spencer Landry earned the win for the Lumberjacks. In two innings, he surrendered a hit, a walk and fanned six.
Joel Singleton, Jamey Fabre, Bryce Beaubouef and Jake Lagrange each pitched an inning, combining to allow two hits and fanning five batters.
Offensively, Blake Dreyer led the Lumberjacks with a 2-for-4 performance with five RBIs and a run, while Brennan Gouaux finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs. Other top contributors included Jalalen Broussard, 1-for-1, two RBIs; Kenny Singleton, 1-for-4, two RBIs and a run; and Sean Stewart, 1-for-2, a double and a run.
“It was a good team win, and hopefully we can continue to play well into this week and the start of our district schedule,” Jensen said.
Patterson (12-6 overall) will begin District 9-3A action Tuesday when it travels to face Donaldsonville in a 3:30 p.m. contest.
