Skippers for Sports defeats Halimar Shipyard, 14-8

Skipper’s for Sports pounded Halimar Shipyard, 14-8, in Swampland baseball action in Morgan City Monday.
Halimar (Central Catholic) took its lone lead of the night in the top of the first, plating a run.
From there, Skipper’s scored four runs each in the bottom of the first and second innings for an 8-1 advantage.
While Skipper’s took as much as a 10-3 lead after four innings, Halimar rallied with five runs in the top of the fifth to cut its deficit to 10-8.
However, Skipper’s responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win.
Skipper’s outhit Halimar just 7-5 in the victory.
However, Halimar Shipyard pitching combined for 10 walks and five hit batters. The squad had four errors.
Skipper’s also had four miscues.
Joseph Doiron earned the win. In 4.1 innings, he surrendered eight runs — three earned — on five hits with four walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts.
Offensively, Ross Albritton led Skipper’s with a 1-for-2 performance with an RBI and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Logan Gros, 1-for-3, two RBIs and two runs; Logan Tingle, 1-for-3, an RBI; Alex Brocato, three RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases; Hunter Daigle, an RBI and a run; and Malik Phillips, an RBI.
In junior varsity action, Skipper’s edged Halimar, 1-0.
Skipper’s scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the first.
Chris Pitre earned the win as he tossed a two-hitter. In five innings, he surrendered five walks and fanned 10.
Hunter Daigle led Skipper’s with a 1-for-1 performance, while Braxton Fontenot added a 1-for-1 performance. Other top offensive contributors included Seth Canty, Ethan Nguyen and Cade Dupre, each 1-for-2.
Halimar (1-5) and Skipper’s (3-4) will return to action today when they face each other again in Amelia. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Taco Bell routs
Praxair
Taco Bell erupted for nine runs combined in the last two innings to turn a tied ballgame with Praxair into a 12-3 rout in Gray Monday.
Tied at 3 entering the top of the sixth inning, Taco Bell plated three runs in the frame and added six in the top of the seventh for a lopsided victory.
Taco Bell led 2-1 after an inning, but by the third inning, Praxair (H.L. Bourgeois) had taken a 3-2 lead.
Taco Bell tied the game at 3 in the top of the fourth.
Offensively, Bradley Gray led Taco Bell with a 4-for-4 performance with two RBIs, a stolen base and three runs.
Other top offensive contributors included Kyle Pitre, 2-for-3, three RBIs and a run; Kyle Boudreaux, 2-for-3, a stolen base; Lucas Hatch, 2-for-4, an RBI; Ty Duthu, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; and Collin Kulka, 1-for-3, a double, three RBIs and a run.
Kulka earned the complete-game victory. In six innings, he surrendered three runs — two earned — on eight hits with three walks, three hit batters and three strikeouts.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell defeated Praxair, 8-6.
While Praxair took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Taco Bell tied the score at 2 in the top of the second and took a 5-2 lead in the top of the third.
Praxair cut its deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the third.
After Taco Bell scored three runs in the top of the fourth, Praxair countered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the final margin.
Brett Williams led Taco Bell with a 2-for-2 performance with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Barret Hover, 2-for-2 with two doubles and a run; Zeph DeLatte, 1-for-2, two RBIs; and Seth Giroir, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run.
Rustin Ratcliff earned the victory. In four innings, he surrendered six runs — three earned — on five hits with two walks and fanned three.
Taco Bell (5-2) and Praxair will return to action today in Berwick. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
TrimCo Millwork falls to Crawdaddy’s Seafood
TrimCo Millwork and Supply (Patterson) fell to Crawdaddy’s Seafood (Houma Christian), 7-1, on the road Monday.
TrimCo Millwork (1-6) will return to action today at home when it faces Crawdaddy’s. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
