Tigers defeat West St. Mary

Morgan City High School defeated West St. Mary, 72-57, in boys’ basketball action in Baldwin Tuesday.
Morgan City led 14-11 after a quarter, 33-23 at halftime, and 48-41 after three quarters.
Makye Richard led three Tigers in double figures with 19 points. Ke’sean Francois added 17 points, while Tywan Walker scored 11.
Other scorers included Taaj Daniels, eight points; Cedric Gant, seven points; Ronnell Williams, five points; and Kerwin Francois and Jared Singleton, three points apiece.
Morgan City (5-2) will return to action Dec. 8 when it hosts Plaquemine. Junior varsity action will begin at 5:30 p.m. with varsity to follow.
Berwick edges
Ascension Catholic
Berwick High School outscored Ascension Catholic 26-19 in the second half to erase a halftime deficit and knock off the Bulldogs, 50-47, in Donaldsonville Tuesday.
While Berwick trailed 28-24 at the half, the Panthers outscored the Bulldogs 16-11 in the third quarter for a 40-39 lead heading to the fourth.
Berwick had a 10-8 scoring edge in the final period.
Ascension Catholic led 18-13 after a quarter, while Berwick came back with an 11-10 scoring advantage in the second period.
Audwin Williams led Berwick with a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He added one assist, one steal and one block.
Kenan Jones and Tysin Meads each just missed a double-double as Jones had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Meads recorded nine points and 11 rebounds. Jones added one assist, one steal and three blocks, while Meads had three assists.
Other contributors included Silton Span, five points; Donald Tillman, three points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal; and Travis Whitehead, two points, five rebounds, three assists and one block.
Berwick (3-1) will return to action Thursday when it faces Grace King in a 5 p.m. contest at Terrebonne’s tournament.
