East Jefferson tops MCHS
Morgan City may have lost to East Jefferson, Division 2’s sixth-ranked squad, 5-1, but Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said the score wasn’t indicative of the game.
“We played very well and had our chances,” Patterson said. “We just didn’t put them away.”
Patterson noted that three of East Jefferson’s goals came because of mistakes on Morgan City’s part.
While East Jefferson jumped out to a 3-0 first-half lead, Irving Delgado cut the deficit to 3-1 early in the second half with a breakaway goal.
“It seemed to produce a spark for both teams, but it was East Jefferson that capitalized with two more goals,” Patterson said. “We do have a lot to work on as a team. We have very talented individual players, but we need to step up our team work in order to go further.”
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers will return to action this weekend when they participate in the Copa Cup, hosted by Beau Chene at More Park in Lafayette.
