Wolfpack beat Panthers; HBCS tops HMS; ESJ downs Franklin; Eagles stop Bulldogs
DELCAMBRE _ Wayne Armelin scored touchdowns of 39 and 50 yards, leading the West St. Mary Wolfpack to a 14-8 District 5-2A victory over the Delcambre Panthers here Friday at the DHS Stadium.
West St. Mary (4-5, 4-2) posted its second league win in a row following last week’s victory over Sacred Heart of Ville Platte.
Armelin, who rushed for 202 yards on the night, broke free on a scoring jaunt in the first quarter as the Wolfpack led 6-0. Armelin added the two-point conversion, giving the Wolfpack an 8-0 advantage.
Delcambre’s Oliver Nunez scored on a 6-yard run along with the two-point conversion, knotting the game at 8-8 in the third quarter.
Armelin raced 50 yards for a score in the fourth period as the Wolfpack secured the 14-8 victory.
West St. Mary will travel to face Loreaville on Friday in District 5-2A action.

NEW IBERIA _ Highland Baptist rolled to a 41-0 victory over the Hanson Memorial Tigers here Friday in District 7-A action.
Brontre Griffin rushed for 407 yards while scoring four touchdowns to power Highland Baptist.
Highland Baptist (6-3, 3-3) posted the win over the Hanson Tigers (2-7, 1-5).
HMS will play host to Gueydan on Friday in District 7-A action.

EDGARD _ East St. John High School pinned a 36-0 setback on the Franklin Hornets here Friday in non-district action.
Franklin slipped to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in District 8-3A action.
Franklin will play host to the Patterson Lumberjacks on Friday in District 8-3A action.

CENTERVILLE _ The Vermilion Catholic Eagles stormed back from a 6-0 deficit to earn a 56-13 victory over the Centerville Bulldogs in District 7-A action here Friday at Bulldog Stadium.
Vermilion Catholic (7-2, 5-1) secured a 49-6 halftime cushion on the way to the league win over Centerville.
Centerville (3-6, 0-6) opened the scoring at 6-0 when quarterback Caleb LeBlanc tossed a 5-yard pass to Cole Candella in the first quarter.
VCHS reeled off 49 points to take a 49-6 lead at the half.
In the final period, LeBlanc scored on a 20-yard run before Hunter Carter kicked the extra point as the Bulldogs fell to the Eagles.
Centerville will play host to Highland Baptist on Friday in District 7-A action.
