Galler-Avet exchange vows at Sacred Heart

Alyssa Kay Galler and Christopher Anthony Avet exchanged wedding vows during an 11 a.m. double-ring ceremony on May 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Officiant the Rev. Gregory P. Fratt was assisted by Deacon Randall Jennings.
The bride is the daughter of Michael E. and Tina B. Galler of Morgan City. She is the granddaughter of Maxine O. Galler and Carol S. Bergeron, both of Morgan City.
The groom is the son of Mark and Gretchen Avet of Houma. He is the grandson of Mary Jane Avet of Houma.
For the ceremony, the altar and sides of the church were enhanced with large floral arrangements in lavender hues and cream accents including gladiola, larkspur, lilies and carnations accented with rosemary.
Readings were by Mona Lisa Hahn, aunt of the bride, and Margaret Fortier, aunt of the groom. Mona Lisa Hahn also gave the prayers of the faithful.
Music was by Lee LeBlanc, organist; Margaret Kreider, vocalist and Ian Bergeron, trumpeter.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore a satin A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline and topped with a long-sleeved lace jacket with a back button closure. The skirt and cathedral-length train were embellished with beads, sequins and metallic re-embroidered floral lace around the bottom. Her veil was double tiers of sequined tulle enhanced with re-embroidered lace and appliques that matched her dress.
She carried a handtied bouquet of Vendela roses, white majolica roses, cream Hypercom berries and accents of baby’s breath and fresh rosemary.
Kristen Ann Galler Thibodeaux was her sister’s matron of honor. She was attired in a chiffon high-low dress featuring an empire waist embellished with beads. Her bouquet had dark shades of lavender, miniature Picasso calla lilies and cream tea roses.
Bridesmaids were Sarah Avet, sister of the groom; and Amy Faulk; Katelyn Hahn and Cherie Latiolais, cousins of the bride.
They each wore a strapless chiffon dress with a layered skirt. Their bouquets featured lavender hues of apple blossoms, lavender stock and miniature carnations, and cream tea roses.
Flower girl Sophia Dugan, cousin of the bride, carried a basket filled with cream tea roses, miniature carnations and baby’s breath.
Ringbearers were Mason Roussa and James Roussa, cousins of the groom.
Sean Avet was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Casey Chaisson, Zachary Gros, Aron Fortier and Eddie Fortier.
Ushers were Christopher Thibodeaux, John Thibodeaux and Philip Guidry.
A reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City.
The bride’s four-tiered cake featured chocolate and vanilla cake with almond, pineapple, strawberry and Bavarian cream fillings. The top tier was adorned with Old English scroll work and inscribed with “Faith, Hope and Love.” Topping the confection was the traditional bride and groom figurine.
The late Ella Duplantis Ozio, great-grandmother of the bride, created the hand-sewn heirloom tablecloth that adorned the bride’s table. It included names and dates of previous family weddings. Keeping the tablecloth up-to-date is the bride’s grandmother, Maxine Galler, and her aunt, Mona Lisa Hahn.
The groom’s chocolate cake depicted a fire helmet.

Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the rehearsal supper at the Latin Corner in Morgan City.
The bride is a graduate of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. She is employed at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Houma.
The groom is a graduate of Terrebonne High School in Houma. He is employed with the Houma Fire Department.
They honeymooned on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, and the Yucatan, and reside in Houma.
