‘Cookies & Cocktails’ benefits Girl Scouts

NEW ORLEANS — As a festive addition to the Girl Scout cookie season, Girl Scouts Louisiana East has teamed with 20 New Orleans-area chefs and bartenders for “Cookies & Cocktails” set Feb. 20 at Generations Hall in New Orleans.
The theme for this year’s gala is “An Evening in Paris” with a patron party at 6 p.m. and the gala at 7 p.m.
New flavors and long-time favorites will inspire the chefs to think outside the “cookie” box as they make one of-a-kind appetizers, desserts, and cocktails using Girl Scout cookies.
“Money raised from this fundraiser will help girls get the leadership and social skills they need to make a positive difference in their communities,” said Stephanie Osborne, who returns for a second year with event co-chair, Dr. Allison Augustus-Wallace.
An open bar, live music from Papa C & the Slammin’ Horns, a photo booth, and a silent auction top off the Parisian-themed events.
Restaurants include Barcadia, Bottom Line Beach Club, Café Reconcile, Culinary Kids, Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria, Fulton Alley, Kingfish, New Orleans School of Cooking, NOLA Brewing, Marvin Allen and his Pelican Pixies, Mizado Cocina, Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen, Restaurant R’evolution, Rivershack Tavern, Seed, Victory, Winn-Dixie/Bi-Lo Holdings and World of Beer.
According to Osborne, celebrity judges will crown the Judge’s Choice champion while gala guests will select the People’s Choice. Emcee is WGNO’s News with a Twist reporter Kenny Lopez and celebrity judges include Chef Matt Murphy of Chopped, Jackie Clarkson, WWL-TV Medical Reporter Meg Farris, and WDSU-TV Medical Editor Dr. Corey Hebert. The 610 Stompers are also among the special guests attending Cookies & Cocktails.
Tickets are $100 per person, or $125 for the patron party, and can be purchased online at www.gsle.org. Guests must be age 21 or older and cocktail attire is requested.
Sponsorships and silent auction items are needed.
