Bayou Vista Garden Club attends state convention

Bayou Vista Garden Club President Donna Bucci and Vice President Jo Ann Ryan represented the club at the Louisiana Garden Club Federation Annual Convention held April 22-23 in West Lake.
The conference began with a tour of Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Orange, Texas, followed by a tea honoring state President Yvette Hebert.
Various programs for the convention included: “The Magic of Cooking and Garnishing with Edible Flowers,” by Trixie Bond; “Louisiana’s Outback,” by Anne Klenke, Creole Nature Trail/Adventure Tourism director; “Organic Gardening — Fresh from the Garden,” by Stephen Reed; and “Feed your Soil, it will Feed your Plants,” by Sherri Harrah.
The federation’s Flower Show Judges Council created pedestal flower designs which graced the meeting room foyer honoring state, regional and national presidents.
Bucci and Ryan are very active in the state organization and participated in business meetings of the federation. Both women are also Gardening Study Council, Landscape Design Council and Environmental Studies Council members which is part of National Garden Clubs.
