Bayou Vista Garden Club beautification work

Members of Bayou Vista Garden Club’s Civic Development Committee installed new plants at the Bayou Vista Landmark on Southeast Boulevard. This was the culmination of a project to eradicate the invasive torpedo grass which grows from rhizomes below ground. Both manual and chemical controls have been applied over the past year. New plantings include dwarf bottlebrush, deciduous shrub (which attracts hummingbirds), Firepower nandina, Lily of the Nile, Aztec grass, snapdragons and petunias. Seated is Jean Chauvin and standing from left are Donna Bucci and Civic Development Chairman Jo Ann Ryan. Also assisting was Janice Verret.
